    Default Parental Lock

I noticed that after I setup parental lock (on Adults channel of course) and after the DM500 has rebooted the parental lock is no longer effective -

The parental lock was setup via the remote as per the the user guide and works until a reset on the box happens.

Am I doing something wrong here - Has anyone had this issue before?

Silly question as the user guide is for enigma, what image are you using..

The image I am using is Gemini 3.6

I hope to be able work this one out either with this image or another.
I will be in the shit if the kids and the missus find this out if they stumble on the Adults only channel -
Yeah sure I hear everyone saying - just remove the channel and I will - but this does not help me when I have a "look" for the odd time when something interesting is on.

Still will appreciate anyone's experience with the parental lock to keep this working even after the reboot of the box.

    Huh?
Since when are the images based on something else? Apart from neutrino.

If I enable the parental lock it is uncrackable for all but me, including the setup lock.

you need to have another go, including hiding locked services.

    because it works.

    Zed, power cycle the box.
You may find that your parental lock settings and other options dissapear?

Give it a try as this is what happens to me when using your Gemini image.

It would seem the channel (passwords/password options) are setup in a violatile area of memory. This is cleared when the box is power cycle'd.

I have been planning to try another image anyway soon so I will probably go down that path.

Can someone recommend a particular image that definitely does not lose the parental lock after a power cycle.
I also want to be able to do card sharing and with a phoenix card reader on the serial port as well.

    Your replies are much appreciated.

    Them's fightin' words hubba-dubba

After setting it the way you want it, do a shutdown/restart from the MENU.

Then you can power cycle till the cows come home.

Restarting enigma does NOT do it.

Did I mention to do a software restart of the box?

It will even remember the channel you were on and use that as the start channel forever.

A further advantage is I put parental lock, and "hide locked services" on all the useless channels that do nothing, this then removes them from all menus, and gives a much less cluttered look.
Stops the wife from saying some channels are faulty.....duh

    Hi z80 and Hubba-Bubba

I too have found by following z80s instructions that the parental lock now works as it should. -- A trap for young players --

It goes to show that a shut/down restart from the menu does a lot more than just the power off/on cycle.
I did not know this and it goes to show that you learn something every day.

No doubt this will likely also apply when you are changing configs etc within the DreamBox.

A great many thanks to all.

I generally use it as I said, to get rid of all the stupid channels that don't do anything, "hide locked services " is quite important, no use hiding the adult channel when the missus can still see the title of the current movie.

Which might be " Man with big Jondola does little virgin".
The title is often just as pornographic as the content.

    @hubba-bubba....you're welcome.
