Default Interesting message from The Gemini Team

They must be copping a bit of flack. The following is on their site.

The forums are currently offline for the following reason(s):

    The Forum is currently closed.
We decided to close the forum till an official statement from DMM has arrived.
It is simply unaccaptable that we (the IHaD Team) are made responsible for actions taken by DMM.
It now is DMM's turn to make statement about the current situation.

    The Gemini Team

Yes, i do believe they wrote the first statement claiming they would lock clones because they thought they would be fair to DMM....

So whos objective was it ?

Probably not solly, mainly because the problem "some how" doesn't seem as big as it should be. Personally i would expext a lot more machines to be down if it is what people say it is, but after lots of forums, it seems to be a handful of people on each forum.
Yet at a quess, you would have to think the image would be on at least a few thousand clones.

Plus they make images for 4 other Dreambox platforms which so far have been uneffected. And don't forget that geniune boxes "should" also be unaffected.

And if it were to end, they would only start up under a different name anyway. That has already happened in the past with Dreambox image builders.

Personaly if their work has bricked peoples Dreamboxs, then i hope they get no support and go under. And then hopefully that will be a message to other image builders not to go down that path

You would think it would be hard to
trust a image when they can do this to you
I also think this is the end for them
    Unless they reinvent the wheel
When you do things right, people won't be sure that you have done anything at all

Did someone mention lawyers and bricking in the same sentence? Well some users did on the IHaD web site just before their closed message popped up.

Bahahahaah yeah right, employ a lawyer for a $150 "clone" box. Even if you owned 10 STB's that went down, it's still not even close to worth it.

    God some people mentally challanged

Yes i have.... i left it out for a reason... Cos its never gonna happen

It's like going to the cops cos all your pirated DVDs got stolen!

A Class action.. pfffft. So who are these people with broken boxes? How many are there in Australia that went down?
Whom are they going to contact? What lawyer would even touch it? And who is the Gemini Team? Do you know their names and address's? Did they force you to use thier firmware? Did you pay them for thier firmware? Did they receive any financial gain from distributing thier firmware to you? Who loaded the firmware? Where did you source their firmware? Can you prove in court it was thier firmware? Did you sign an agreement with them? Did they offer a warranty? Do you have any written documentation?
It is strickly mentioned at DMM that using non factory images voids the warranty anyway! And it's not even a genuine box!!!
So what exactly are your grounds for defence? Good luck even trying to explian all this to a legal team. And when they ask, "So where is this Gemini Project" and you go "erhhh overseas somewhere, um America i think, no wait, they are in Europe somewhere i think...." An International Class Action over free software from a generaly unkown source, yeah, i can see that happening!

Then what happens when your legal team ask why did it all these boxes fail, and you explain because the Gemini firmware had a code in there to detect and stop clone boxes, then he asks, "are the boxes in question clones?" ehhhhh thank ya mother for the rabbits!

Is the The Gemini Project even a Pty Ltd, do they trade? Do they even have any money? And what are you expecting for a succsessful case? That they buy you all brand new Dreamboxes... Buy you brand new CLONE Dreamboxes from China??

Have i heard of a class action lawsuit? ..... yeah i've heard of them. There was one in that movie "The Castle" wasn't there?
Maybe you can get Charles Tingwell out of retirement one more time?

It's case of bad luck and SFTU and buy a new box or JTAG the one you have.

But what would I know, i might be wrong. Sounds like Adobe and tagg know all about these class actions though, so are you guys offering to lead these poor folk into battle.

I think you guys are missing the point here, These boxes and images are for legitament uses too, being able to help you get Free tv is a bonus.

Now i don't think in any off the images does it say This images only to be use for pirating TV. if anything it says the opposite ??

I don't want to seem unhelpful with your class action, so here is a link to help you under way.
