Default Wireless Dreambox to ADSL Router Connection

Hoping someone can help me here. What is the best way to wirelessly connect my Dreambox to the port on my 4-port ADSL router. At the moment I have a 15m ethernet cable running through the house and my partner is not all too happy about that.

plug in a wireless ap to the cdream that is preconfigured to your network and connects to your wireless router.

urban was selling some tp ap gear that apparently works well for what you want

just make sure that whatever you pick as the AP can support wireless client mode - and that your dsl router does wireless ap mode :-)

Sorry, it is a wired ADSL router sitting next to my PC. Where does the wireless ap plug into -USB or ethernet port? I assume also need a wireless router connected to my ADSL router?

you will need to wireless APs, one capable of running in wireless client mode. One AP plugs into the ethernet port of your adsl router in wireless AP mode. the other AP in wireless client mode connects to the ethernet port of your DB and talks to the ADSL router via the wireless AP.

you could also use BPL such as homeplug. I am using this one:

but there are heaps of other similar products around. it uses the powerlines in your home to propogate ethernet.

The bpl does work but remember that the points must be on the same circuit and considering he has mentioned that he has 15 meters of cable running would suggest that the points are in different rooms and could be on separate circuit's.

as shown below if both plugs are on A then it will work but if 1 is on "A" and the other on "B" or "C" it will not work

Good point 666 as I think they are on different circuits. I was going to ask if I could use two wireless AP's and it looks like I can as long as one can be in client mode. I'll PM urban and see what he has, thx.

I bought the tplink 501 from

never skipped a beat. You could always buy the linux version on the
linksys router (GL) and reflash it with the third party firmware.

That's very true Billy, but have you ever tried ringing Scorptec for technical support, it's somewhat akin to Army Intelligence, an oxymoron.

bought off urban soulja heaps of times
good products and good prices and prompt delivery

i have used the tp links with success but had the problem of the son then trying to hook his laptop onto it as well and the next thing i know i get this phone call asking me if there was any reason the new wireless thingy could blow all of our bandwidth only to find the son had reset them and the whole neighborhood was knocking it off

and have used ethernet over power from different circuits in a house with no trouble at all as well

in fact i have just installed a system at an extremely large house and we used 13 of them and all with great success and you dont have to worry about people playing with them
