flyback, flyback flyback transformer
I have a Sony 28" tv, model Kv-xf29m35 thats just started playing up.
When turning it on it use to give a degauss type thud, some static type crackling sound and start.
Now when starting it would just hiss (from the rear inside, not the speakers) and sometimes turn itself back off again.
If i continue turning it on it will eventually start (after 20 goes at it), sometimes turning the mains off and button switch at front helps it to fire up.
Im guessing the hissing may be a transformer, my T602 looks a little odd like some glue drop has hardened on it. The hissing sound, sounds like its around the area of it.
Any one got circuit diagramms for her or any experiance of the same problem on the same model.
Might have a play with her next weekend when i have more time, if all fails i will just buy a new one their cheap enough at the moment.

LOL Caps bite
yeah that site should give you symptoms
but almost sure it will be your flyback transformer
It's the big black or white thing with wires coming out and going to the back of the picture tube
should only cost around $30-$60 for the part
but don't forget to discharge the picture tube 1st
If your not comfortable doing it you should pay someone because they hold 15 kv +
if you touch that you will wish you got one of those big caps and stuck it on your tongue instead

Funny thing is the Mrs said to me i should give it to a service man or up my life insurance first.
Ill give her a closer look on Monday.
Edit; Only 15 kv......may get the Mrs to do it for me.....
