Could not find such a thread, so here goes.

I have my Dreambox connected via a 4-port ADSL router to the internet. On the C: line that goes in the CCcam.cfg file, I assume you enter the IP address that the outside world sees. Is this enough to allow the friend to find my Dreambox which is at 192.168.1.2 on my local network?

Only if he's present on your local network as well, if he's not then you'll need to go visit .com

Not sure if you already have this info but here it is:

The server config file requires a port to listen to for incoming connections:
    SERVER LISTEN PORT : 32521
you must have this port forwarded from the router to the dreambox.
You need to create a user as well:
    F: username password

I would only bother using dyndns if the person has dynamic ip address, doesnt hurt to have it on static but personal choice i guess...

The client config file will then have
    C: 202.020.020.020 32521 username password yes

You first need to create a free account, then once complete, click the "Get Started" button then create your Hostname. If you have a router that has DynDNS as part of the firmware such as the Linksys models, add your account details and away you go.

Thx Krueger, just bought a Linksys wireless ADSL router on Ebay for $75, so hopefully I'll be up and running by next weekend
