Just done a blindscan on I8 and there are heaps of channels open that are normally scrambled. Looks like now Selectv have gone, I8 have done a re-shuffle.
I have listed all FTA channels going right now. Some are normally FTA, some normally scrambled, some are brand new.
Listed in bold are channels either brand new, or normally scrambled and could be worth checking out. There may be more, so happy for more input.
A number of channels will need a DVB-S2 box to receive.

The ones that are bold text are MPEG4?

My parents in law were selectTV subscribers and enjoyed some of the free to air stuff available with their SelectTV box. After Select ceased, they still got the free channels until about a week ago. Everything is now gone. Any ideas how they can continue to pick up these channels on their old Select box?

G'day Ric. These maybe silly questions, but you need to cover all bases.
Is it possible that things were moved or unplugged?
Has anyone fiddled with the dish menu settings?
Have you checked if the cable is still plugged into the wall and box?
Is the dish still on the roof, not obstructed and pointing in same direction others are?
Is there a menu option allowing for signal detection? If so, what is the signal level & quality? Make sure it is for Intelsat 8?
Also, I have noticed that a number of TP's listed on lyngsat are now no longer.
Last time I checked (4-5wks ago) lyngsat was reasonably accurate, but have now noticed some TP's are no longer.
Looks like some reshuffling has occured and lyngsat website needs updating to reflect the changes.
But as your parents were receiving channels, if nothing was moved, unplugged or changed, and everything else seems right, and there is a good signal level and quality for Intelsat 8, then your next option will be to conduct a Blindscan.
I have the selectv box but have never used it. Unsure what options are available. Can get it out and check for you.
Let us know how you go.
Ordinary pic quality on a lot of these channels. Some are like retransmissions from a DM500 as I saw the info a screen a few times a while back on a couple of channels.

Duza, assuming that the box is functioning properly, then I would assume that the channels your in-laws were watching have been discontinued or have moved. RAI for example has moved to 12646 (H) from its prior SelecTV transponder, RAI News and Yes Italia came and went (or became Arabic overnight) and now they're back with a Mediaset bonus. The point I am making and everyone else here is that there is some backstage manipulation by the service providers. My advice then is to do a complete rescan / blind scan if possible. If your box doesn't allow a blind scan you may get away with a network scan (assuming everything listed on the satellite's network identification table), otherwise you will have to manually add each transponder frequency from the above table or from lyngsat ()

Hi guys,
I have a dreamax 480 receiver, same as openbox x-810 that scans these new channels in but with no sound, Is there something I can do or is it time to upgrade the receiver?
Other channels are all ok.
Time for a new receiver as many are MPEG4. What channels are you interested in as I can try them. When looking at these a while back I found the transmissions were poor and even good mpeg4 receivers were struggling to lock onto the stream for want of a better expression. It wasn't the signal!

Tony, I don't know what the problem might be because I'm getting all loud and clear on my Strong box with the exception of Yes Italia. This morning the audio quality was very low on that transmission. I haven't checked it since.
Have you checked the Audio pathway identifier (APID) settings: 642, 643 and 644 for Rai News, Mediaset and Yes, respectively? You may have to update these if they are incorrect for whatever reason.
Cheers
OC

Tony press the red button (audio) on the remote and see if you can change the language, Sometimes they have more than one audio stream.

Thanks joezep, Can’t change the language but there’s a sound level adjustment and when you play with it the sound comes on, but when you change the channel you have to go trough the process again. But that isn’t a big deal. Thanks again.
Sorry OC, I meant to say that the audio pid are right not video.
