Default Thinking of a Dreambox 7000

I have been thinking of upgrading from a DM500 to DM7000 series and would like to get some feedback or advise from members here.
One of my mates has been hassling me to get one for him as well.

    Questions:
    1. Is there any particular model I should go for?
    2. What would I gain by having one of these?
    3. Would it make a difference to the intermittant pixelation issues every one talks about with the DM500
    4. What price should I be paying?
    5. Are there any members thinking of selling one or can anyone advise a good place to buy one?

    Many Thanks in advance

    1. 7020 if it is the 7 series only you are looking at as it is enigma 1 and has everything for it in 99% of all images out there
    2. harddisk, USB, CF card, CI slot, 2 card slots, TV RF in and out, dual scart, modem, 12v switch
    3. Yes IMHO but if you have your LAN set up with some images there is no difference both are perfect
    4. Ask cmoore but I hear clones are no more than USD $200 each
    5. sorry can not help

The 7000 is a great box, but some of them are starting to get old now, so I dont know that id be suggesting too many people be looking at purchasing one of them now days at the types of costs people seem to want for them. The 702x series is newer and probably the better choice due to its slightly higher specs than the 7000.
What would you do if your server was stolen or failed beyond repair?

Jonc is wrong about the price of the 7020, they are $220 if you buy a 100 of them, and that is $US plus freight and GST.

I got 50 of them for $US 250 plus freight and GST

I landed them for about $AUD365 with all costs.

Allow for 5% of them to be stuffed.

You will be struggling to do it any cheaper.

Ah do I detect a clone dealer being ripped off? No as I am right for sure as I brought 10 for home here this week to replace the DM500's (original). Yes that is in US$ and paid the princely sum of USD 180 delivered to my door step.
