Default New HP 1270e Ext dvd/cd Writer drive not recognised!

Bought an HP 1270e Lightscribe External DVD/CD writer.

My os is Xp pro sp3.

At first it said invalid function . . .
. . . went to properties and enabled cd writing!

Now it isn't being recognised as a DVD writer

There are no driver HP1270 downloads available from
    HP Support.

How can I get XP to recognise the 1270 as a DVD writer as well?

You could try going into Device manager which is in the Control panel and found in System, find the DVD Writer then uninstall it and let Windows find it as new hardware. Windows should then install it with the correct drivers. I had a Pioneer DVD Burner that was seen as a DC Rom drive and I fixed it this way.

I was told that XP "WON'T" recognise ANY DVD player !

Instead load a program that uses DVD's and "IT" will recognise the player/writer!
