try this in cccam ?
SERIAL READER : /dev/tts/0
SMARTCARD CLOCK FREQUENCY: /dev/tts0 6000000
Just curious if it's just me or not but I can't seem to get gemini 4.2 and an external reader to work with Cccam. Tried versions 2.04 - 2.08.

Thanks guys. I give up. Maybe it's something to do with gem 4.2 and these boxes. They are from 2 different sources. I also tried adding 'phoenix' at the end of the serial reader line which I read in another thread
The strange thing is I've had success with other images. Pli from late last year, Gem 3.1, Nabilio with cccam 2.0.8 (but not gbox with phoenix only int reader).
So there you go.
Leroy
of course you have to uncheck the disable serial port option in expert settings
Need some clarification, when using a serial reader on DM500 : /dev/tts/0, is this consider as slot 1 or slot 2? What about the internal card reader?
its the serial port.
sci0 is the internal slot.
yes of course silly.....and using your config file or the couple of lines or toors no go.
I even ticked, rebooted, unticked and rebooted
as soon as I added in the extra lines for the internal reader to the bottom of the config I've been using and change to the internal slot I get pics...But this is the same config I used with other images. I just won't worry about Gem 4.2

Which card Leroy?
there was some posting awhile back about 500s with faulty serial ports.
maybe you got some cheap pieces of crap?
Yeah the port might be faulty but it would be good to know what card is trying to be read.
For example if it's nds then toors config wont work and if its nds then the other one wont work either.
Doubt it would be a gamma card or austar
Selectv card.
I remember the posts with the boxes with the faulty serial ports but they wouldn't work at all. But like I mentioned above I can get it working with other images.
This is a bit like eyesee's prob with getting his Jaycar working with his DM. I actually bought a 1n5711 shottky diode today from Disk Smith and thought I'd see if that would be the issue.
Incidentally Dick Smith appear to be moving away from selling descrete components as these diodes are not in their new cattledog. Only what stores appear when you look up on their website apparently has stock.

upload the image you are using i will test it...
I tested it and it works for me....
I recall that those camkey lines are not enough to run selectv card.
you need the correct data bytes.
suggest you dig up the image i posted on the old forum, someone is bound to have it.
Cheers z80 & Leroy!
Just incase you were all wondering, posted the image I was using and Toor couldn't get it to read a card in an external reader connected to the serial port. Maybe my image was corrupted a little....who knows.
I last night with the same box loaded Gemini 4.1 from scratch. I already had this and never used this version. I can now read cards via serially (is that a word?) connected phoenix and internally with no issues - Select and other cards.
Can't be shagged trying 4.2 again and building image.
Thanks everyone for your input - case closed

The moral to the story is WGAF what image it is as long as it gives pics...
