    Default Bluray isos

    G'day

I'm possibly going to be entering the bluray/3d tv market soon and have a few questions.

will a mkv play directly of a thumb drive with a wd live box

will a 3d bluray rip run of a wd live box

If not what do people use.

Also those who have 3d tvs do you think its over rated or a godsend.

I looked at an lg today and it uses non powered glasses, I was also looking at the 3d grandfinal afl and it was quite impressive.

I would only go 3d led lcd as I believe the picture is second to none.

ive got a 3d tv and i love it. i was burning the iso to disc but then they brought out a thing called chinivia or something that recognised that is was a copy and wouldnt play correctly, so now all i do is put a side by side mkv on a external hdd and thats it.

So if your wd live box plays mkv it will do the job but i also hear that lg has a good media player like the samsung and will play it directly from hdd.

I was burning iso to 50GB disc's but this was far to expensive cosidering i could not tell the difference between the iso and the re-encoded mkv. so dont do as i did and spend the money on a bluray drive and 50GB disc's, just get an external hdd.
If you do get a 3dtv shoot me a pm and i will help out to fill that hdd.
Stop being so stupid.. it’s my turn!!

What are you using to go from 3d iso to MKV? Also this would be side by side half or something else?

    HI Mkoss,

Just started getting into 3d movies, i have been using dvdfab to convert my 3d files to MKV.

Dvdfab converts to sbs for me and works a treat.

Once these files are created i just put them onto my external usb drive and play direct onto my samsung 3d tv.

Samsung and LG have built in Media Players that will play Half-SBS Mkvs from a Hdd 2.5 or 3.5, so no need for the WD Live with those brands
The WD Live will play 3D SBS Mkv's if you go another brand

The SBS Mkv rips are half "1920 (960+960) x 1080", once you go over a 50" screen you will notice the diff in quality,
so if you make you own rips up the bitrate

3D Bluray is "3480 (1920+1920) x 1080" there is now one media player that can play 3D Bluray ISO's - Xtreamer Prodigy

The LG you looked at is Passive, and not Active, you only get Half the Resolution on Passive, LG says they have a way to fake full res,
the polarised glasses are cheaper and brighter, than the active shutter glasses
