how badly is the clip broken ? has it just popped off the hinges or just plain stuffed ?
soldering is a difficult option , but the easiest to reverse if needed , but do not solder the cable directly onto it . use wire to connect the points so that if needed you take it off a lot easier than you could if soldered directly .
another way is and I really hate to say this is the spot of super glue , but you need to make sure everything is exact and the contacts are tight

i've repaired many phat/lites with broken or missing flat cable socket clips without any further problems

i use a piece of plastic cut from some scrap larger white flat cables - on the tinned ends you'll find plastic to reinforce the cable while its inserted into the socket

cut the plastic to slightly smaller width than the ds flat cable and 15mm length

insert the touchscreen/backlight cable and wedge the cut plastic piece into the socket (non contact side) with gripping tweezers until its securely fitted

finish off with some strong insulation tape - i use glass fibre insulation tape as its extremely sticky and rigid

    regards...
