    Default Streaming with BitControl V2.9

After messing around with V3.0 and not getting anywhere I rolled back to V2.90 which can be obtained from a few sites and to my joy the pictures came up. I am using V3.0 of the bitcontrolŽ MPEG-2 Audio Decoder.

It is good tracking things on the console; here is the log for my start up. Tried viewing, recording, retransmitting and all works great. See screen shot below.

    Default Installation Procedure

This is what I did to get the software up and running:

You first need to install bitcontrolŽ MPEG Decoder 3.0. You can get this from the bitcontrol website and is the latest version. These are the installation screens:

Next you need to install bitcontrolŽ Digital TV Link v2.9. Copies of this are available on some sites, and you may even find other useful info.

Finally you need to copy your two licence files (*.lic) to the C:\Program Files\Common Files\BitCtrl\Licenses folder. Then open the License Manager and activate the licenses:

You will now find a Direct TV Link on your desktop. Double click on it, and you will get a blank screen. Now go down to your icon tray, click on the bitcontrol icon and select 'Options'. Go to Dreambox and enter your details thus:

Apply, then OK and close down the Direct TV window. Restart, and after a few seconds you should get a window like the one below. BTW, you should have Windows Media Player installed.

Yep, that's Michael Moore in Sicko, worth watching.

BTW, I'm sure I had things set for streaming to the Internet but my upload rate is too slow. Need to move on to ADSL2+, or when is Rudd rolling out that fast broadband of his?

Yep that is why vlc is still one of the best re-streamers over the WAN as you can use low bit rates. There are other threads on this in here about it -

You can do the same with the BitControl retransmitter feature, in fact works really well. As I wind back the bit rate I see the picture slowly deteriorate but my upload speed is just not adequate to get the signal out there. Looking around right now for alternate providers - any suggestions ?

You might want to check your anti-virus software to make sure it is not blocking anything.
