I have a feeling both the VTV and HTV channels are MPEG4 so the old Strong just isn't up to the task now

    Vinsat 1 =>

Require MPEG 4 receiver and Wide Band 3.4 to 4.2 C-LNB

3413 Ver => MPEG 2, Receivable on any old MPEG 2 receiver. Good reception In the South East using a Dynasat 1.8m.

3433 and 3558 Ver => MPEG 4, Need MPEG 4 receiver… Due to WiFi and Unwired interference only 3 meter dish works well. In areas where there’s no interference, 2.3m Dynsat work well.

Default New channels in VinaSat 1

    Hi,

Can anyone confirm the new channels: HTV7, HTV9....can be received in Melbourne?

I have a my Sat TV setup ( I paid some guys a few year ago for it) and it still working with current VTV channels on Vinasat 1.

Should I just buy a new DVB-S2 Satellite receiver to replace the existing one (Phoenix DVBS300) and it will pickup the new channels on VinaSat 1? My current Sat Dish is a motorised one, should I need re-position/ re-program all the other Satellites on the receiver? Or should I have to pay for the guys to comback to setup for the new channels.

The new model I intend to buy is: Strong SRT 4930, has anyone has any experience (or review) on this model?

My signal on VinaSat1 on my current Phoenix receiver is about 45% quality, I still can watch picture on it. I live in Vermont area of Melbourne, would that be the max quality or can it be higher than that?

    Many Thanks

I can pick up the HTV channels but I'm also 300km NE of you. They come in just above the signal threshold but are completely watchable. I reckon you may need a larger dish but with careful tweaking a 2.3m might be able to get them.

I'm using an UltraPlus DVB-S2/h.264/ mpeg4 receiver but I'm sure the Strong will do the trick for you.

    Cheers,

    Thanks Leroy,

If I buy the new Strong DVB-S2, should I just replace it with the old Phoenix DVB-S and everything is working or should I have to track all the Satellites and Scan channels again.

You'll have to set up the strong from scratch but it's straight forward.

    Thanks,

I've ordered an OpenBox s10 on ebay.

Hopefully I can play around with it to pickup these channels once it has been delivered.

    Default HTV channels

I just got my Openbox S10 today, ran Blind scan on the box and the only channels I could receive are VTVs.

Not sure what I've done wrong, if it can pickup VTVx channels that means I point to the right satellite, but why no HTVx channels?

Can anyone shed me some light on this?

    Regards

    Default HTV7 channels

Also, when receiving HTV channels, it shows the transponder as following:

    11486MHz 9766Ks/s V

But from Lyngsat, it should be
    3413MHz 9766Ks/s V

Can some one please explain this?

    Thanks

HTV were a little weaker so you will need to tweak your dish.

The lynsat freq is correct because its on cband. The other is a Ku freq.

Thanks Leroy for your very quick reply.

How should I tweak my dish? My dish is a motorised dish, however when I make steps moving east / west, the signal quality doesn't change at all.

I thought, once you can see VTV channels that means we point the dish to the right direction. The rest is just to enter the correct frequency...

also the number 11486 MHZ doesn't exist anywhere in the Lyngsat page for Vinasat 1.... I'm lost at the moment.

    Thanks

You might have to try rotating your lnb ,to try and improve the signal. You can also move it slightly in our out.
You can also try to slightly increase/decrese the elevation, but be very careful you dont throw your allignment out,

That's a bit hard, but I'll try my best to see how. Since the dish is on the roof and the LNB is futher away from the roof. I don't have ladder that's high enough to stand on to adjust the LNB.

I rang the guy who installed the whole system initially and he gave me a quote of $330 to replace the receiver (and I guess he must adjust the dish so that I could receive those HTV channels). The receiver he's going to replace is an Openbox X800.

I usually allign it on as5 ,as I can reach it.It only needs a small adjustment.Just mark where you initally begin.
The guy who installed it should not charge you for adjusting the dish as he didnt allign it properly in the first place.

Default Vinasat 1 signal quality in Perth WA

    Hi all,

Recently, I have engaged a technician to install a 2.3m dish C band sattellite at home, the system use Strong 4930 box, Strong L926 LNB.

I can pick up all VTV and HTV7,HTV9, thuan viet, ca nhac, du lich, the thao, gia dinh, phim

The signal quality for VTV1,2,3,4,6 channel is ~60% and watchable

The signal quality for HTV7,9, thuan viet, phu nu, ca nhac, du lich, the thao, gia dinh, phim is ~ 68%-72% and watchable. But in the last couple of days the signal has drop down to 60%-64% and break up and some time is not watchable.

Anyone has the same problem in Perth, Western Australia. I wonder if I change the dish size to 3m or change the LNB will it help or do I need someone to get on the roof to adjust the dish?

a 3M dish would definitely help but I would first try to tweak your current setup before going to that expense.

So you can watch HTV at the end ? I'm in Melbourne too, are you using 2.3 m dish to watch the HTV channels? Thanks.
