    Default Startup error

I was downloading some xbox files, one was FlashFXP for copying with a key gen.

My spybot went overboard, telling me it wanted to change the registry, I kept saying no to the change.

Now, all I get is a reference to what I believe is a timer..

On start up I get " Could not load or run c\windows\system32\ddayy.exe specified in the registry.Make sure the file exists on your computer or remove the reference to it in the registry.

I had deleted the program, and the file cannot be seen in windows 32.

I googled, and went to spybot page, as well as microsoft, but cannot see a help section.

Anyone had this or know the procedure to edit the registry please?

Now ddayy is in the sys32???

simple way click start - run - type: msconfig - ok
on "system configuration utility" click on "startup" tab
    untick "c\windows\system32\ddayy.exe"

Doing a search on ddayy.exe I saw references to vundo which can be a pain to remove

    Thanks,
Tried with that program, but still get the message, and the file is still in windows\system 32.

AVG won't start anymore on reboot....exe missing
Control worked and found trojans and fixed them
Message now also keeps popping up telling me I am offline, and do I want to go online.
Favourites also seem synchronised, but was never this way prior.
When I used to reboot, I was online, but now am not, until I click the page

Hmm..what a mess....especially at this time on a Sunday night too.

I have found the free version of SUPERAntiSpyware to be useful in the past.

Maybe try a system restore. It's under system tools in accessories.

She's cactus. Won't boot up properly, gives warning messages about malicious software, reading and copying hard drive etc.Went into safe mode, tried deleting all references to ddayy.dll etc via regedit, search. All no good.
Am typing this now on the lappy, and will get the big one formatted tomorrow....beware all...this really attacked my registry, getting straight through spybot and avg.I can't be certain, but it was something that occured on 14/1 as all the dll and glitches in registry refer to that date,

Ah well...poop happens....thanks for the attempts to fix me

Hi genius.....Sorry, bad news...in the end, everything failed, nothing would work. I had to reformat and lost what was not backed up.

Sounds like a good case not to download dodgy files (of which most gaming type apps seem to be) and to get a better AV program.
So far I've not found anything that can beat NOD32.
The other solution is to set up a cheap desktop computer just for these types of uses - and run a user account with limited access instead of an admin account.
User accounts with limited access help to stop malicious programs from installing by themselves.
