hmmm..
avg won't start up on boot as normal.can't get it to run in task bar like normal. It can't find the exe to get it to work.
I have the control centre scanning now.
It has the ddayy in it's vault
It is scanning now and so far shows 7 trojans
I was downloading some xbox files, one was FlashFXP for copying with a key gen.
My spybot went overboard, telling me it wanted to change the registry, I kept saying no to the change.
Now, all I get is a reference to what I believe is a timer..
On start up I get " Could not load or run c\windows\system32\ddayy.exe specified in the registry.Make sure the file exists on your computer or remove the reference to it in the registry.
I had deleted the program, and the file cannot be seen in windows 32.
I googled, and went to spybot page, as well as microsoft, but cannot see a help section.
Anyone had this or know the procedure to edit the registry please?
Now ddayy is in the sys32???

well i can say its not in windows at all so i would use moveonboot to remove it.
unless its some printer or hardware file, but i doubt being a exe.
did u show hidden files\os files in c\windows?
want me?

simple way click start - run - type: msconfig - ok
on "system configuration utility" click on "startup" tab
untick "c\windows\system32\ddayy.exe"
Doing a search on ddayy.exe I saw references to vundo which can be a pain to remove
Thanks,
Tried with that program, but still get the message, and the file is still in windows\system 32.
AVG won't start anymore on reboot....exe missing
Control worked and found trojans and fixed them
Message now also keeps popping up telling me I am offline, and do I want to go online.
Favourites also seem synchronised, but was never this way prior.
When I used to reboot, I was online, but now am not, until I click the page
Hmm..what a mess....especially at this time on a Sunday night too.
I have found the free version of SUPERAntiSpyware to be useful in the past.
Ah ha...ok SPLog, thanks....that got rid of the message thankyou, and it booted as normal.
AVG still not going though...would you suggest i unistall and reinstall?
Many many thanks fellas
try uninstalling but it might fail, i have same prob and have installed avast as avg is being a real pig, i uninstalled,,,fail reinstalled,,,,fail remove proggy's fail, so deleted it from program files an will run regscan
Maybe try a system restore. It's under system tools in accessories.
She's cactus. Won't boot up properly, gives warning messages about malicious software, reading and copying hard drive etc.Went into safe mode, tried deleting all references to ddayy.dll etc via regedit, search. All no good.
Am typing this now on the lappy, and will get the big one formatted tomorrow....beware all...this really attacked my registry, getting straight through spybot and avg.I can't be certain, but it was something that occured on 14/1 as all the dll and glitches in registry refer to that date,
Ah well...poop happens....thanks for the attempts to fix me
please provide update on this post.... same kind of issue here.
Sounds like a good case not to download dodgy files (of which most gaming type apps seem to be) and to get a better AV program.
So far I've not found anything that can beat NOD32.
The other solution is to set up a cheap desktop computer just for these types of uses - and run a user account with limited access instead of an admin account.
User accounts with limited access help to stop malicious programs from installing by themselves.
