    Default Ness R16 R.C. Panel

    Hi Everyone,

I have recently installed a Ness R16 Panel with 3x 100-691 R12 Radio PIR's (cabling is limited due to 3 storey townhouse).

Everything has gone quite smooth and I have successfully programmed the PIR's to zones 1,2 and 3.

My problem starts here... seems that after I install the batteries into the the PIR's (panel acknowledges with 3 beeps) the sensors go into some kind of "sleep mode". I have also tried arming the panel and then try passing a PIR but no LED will light up and no alarm either.

I definitely know that there is communication between PIRs and the panel as I have removed the PIR's battery cover and tamper switch will sound the alarm.

Can anyone confirm do the PIRs only activate themselves in "armed" mode?

    Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Cool

They will only transmit after NOT seeing movement for about a 4 minute period. Commonly called "sleep mode". If they were to transmit on all movement you would be replacing batteries every Monday after a weekend with all the kids running through the house. Arm the system then allow 4 min from when the PIR last saw movement .

    Yep watchdog is correct.
    TEST:
TEST link, disables the re-transmit timer, allowing
the detector to be walk tested without waiting
for the 4 minute timer to expire.

Note: If the TEST link is left on, the PIR will
automatically revert to normal mode after one
hour. This is a battery conservation feature.
To re-start test mode, remove the link and then
    replace it

Your help is much appreciated watchdog

    And RESS too

Off topic: Would you guys vouch for the NESS systems? I haven't installed many alarms (Satellite and AV Tech) but comparing to the Bosch systems I have installed in the past I found this system limited for functionality/features. Is it the case for other NESS systems?

    Thanks again.

The R16 is a limited system, The D8X or D16X is packed with features, but i do have to admit wireless with ness is not that great seems they have not improved in thisdepartement. Bosch Solution 16 plus is probably on equal par with the Ness D16X or maybe even better it all depends who you ask. I install both and cant fault either except for the ness wireless gear,
Bosch wireless is far more better. This is my opinion.
