    Default More gemini probs

If you're running a clone dm500 then forget about blue button downloading the satellites.xml file and any of the cams.

Looks like they have spat the dummy and it no go.

More reasons to stop using their images.

I thought that was the 4.3.0 feature?

    Even tried it on 4.2, 4.1, 3.6.

Doesn't matter, have written gemini off on DM500...too hard now.

WTF I had to try it.

I use Gemini 4.1 and Cccam2.05 on all my DM500's, so I pressed the blue button on one and chose Cccam 2.08 from the gemini server.

It downloaded and installed as it should, no problem.

    hey

Im glad I stumbled across thread.

On Sat Night I was flashing some DMs and when setting up the DMs i couldnot get any Sat...I traced it to Satellites.xml file and was once again disappointed with Gemini images.

I remotely connected to another DM and ftp'd the satellites.xml file over to /var/etc and that was it...all good.

I can post a copy of the file i use for C1 if anyone wants it...

I wonder how they know that is a clone as im running 4.1 bios that was downloaded around Dec 07.
It could not be the Mac address as Gemini server has no idea of our local DM mac address's as it traverses the internet router to router, so unless my 4.1 received an update which I cant see possible then how does the Gemini server know its a clone

I don't have a clone 500, but I installed the latest nabilosat 500 image the other day and can highly recommend. More downloads, better interface, nice ecm response time features from the web interface and the OSD + picon images etc. Couldn't find where to download the transponders for C1, but nothing a satellites.xml copy from a working image doesnt fix.

I've had a play with Nabilosat and quite like it also.

It is also remarkably small (4.4mb) for the functionality it offers. A lot of space on the /var partition. The only thing I miss about gemini is the dropbear ssh server as I could use key authentication from my macbook pro / linux box to login without that pesky password. No great loss.

    yep...exactly.

that's the problem...when you make an image from scratch they shaft you.

I also had the same problem today , was chopping and changing images on my DM500 and tried to download satellites.xml and got a big fat nothing.

I dont think the Gemini team are doing themselves any favours. I ended up trying a PLI image and am starting to like it though the menus take a bit of getting used to

i,m a fan of the pli images mainly for the fact that i was shown how to do everything using pli so i guess i,m biased
i,ve tried the gemini images on my legit dream and didn,t like it at all
but its all down to personal preference

Make sure you try a few different skins, they can really make a big difference
