    Team,

I am unable to "RESTORE MY ACTIVE DESKTOP" because of an unresolved "Internet Explorer Script Error" being able to be fixed.

    See attached file.

    Please help. (OS is XP).

Could be your desktop template file is corrupt.

    Go to C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer

and delete desktop.htt then right click your desktop and click Refresh, this will recreate desktop.htt.

If you can't see the above file you will need to setup explorer Tools -> folder options -> view, and check show hidden files and folders and uncheck hide protected hidden system operating files.

hmmm... tried it on another PC and the right click refresh did not recreate desktop.htt, could recreate it by changing the desktop background though. Try that first.

This link used the same delete desktop.htt solution to fix the problem, have a read, maybe they explain it more clearly than I did.

A google search gives a few other possible solutions, but those with the problem either didn't say it was fixed or reformatted... they were reinstall the microsoft scripting engine, scan for spyware, check your Active X settings in IE, but nothing concrete.

Are you actually using Active Desktop? Try disabling it/reanabling it.

    1. Open the Control Panel. 2. Open Display Properties. 3. Click the Desktop tab. 4. Click the Customize Desktop button. 5. Click the Web tab in the Desktop Items window.

If you wish to enable the Active Desktop, check "My Current Home Page". Add your current home page into your desktop or click New to add another web page and/or other Active Desktop features. To update the content, click the Synchronize button.

If you wish to disable Active Desktop, make sure all checkboxes in this window are un-checked
There was a blog that said

The solution is to right click on your desktop. Select properties. Select the themes tab. Pick a different theme from your list. Click apply. The desktop message page goes away. Reselect your
    current theme. Click Apply.
as a solution to an active desktop problem.

hey mate I had a problem like that and i used a thing called IE_fix.cmd

    fixed all my problems

double click IE_fix.cmd and answer the prompts. Ignore any error messages.

    Reboot and test again.
