Default Infrared led for DM7020 to improve remote range

    Fellow dreamers.....

I'm not happy with the remote range on my 7020. The 500 works fantastically from anywhere in the house including the toilet (ok it's not quite that good)

The 7020 range works well for a couple of metres and then back a couple more and you have to be very precise with your aiming. I have left the infrared led cover off and this has helped.

Has any bought the following IR led from Jaycar, replaced and used with success??

    Or can someone suggest another?

    thanks........Leroy

If you are happy with the dm500 range then I have stock of the IR assy for the dm500 as a spare part.

you could use the bits in it and maybe advise us all of an improvement?

    $9 plus $3 postage.

    Much better idea me thinks.

I had thought of that but I also wanted to get the ir receiver right up to the window. The position where it's currently is not central and as a result works better being aimed at from the LHS than the RHS. More to do with location of the pads on thepcb where the ir receiver is currently located.

    Hi Guys,

Just an update. I picked up an IR receiver from Jaycar. Just popped it in (or rather soldered) and a definite improvement. I should of done this ages ago. The range has also improved and the the acuracy in which I had to aim the remote is less. So all in all a good result.

I've put it back together now!! Look it's not hard if you are handy with a soldering iron you won't have an issue.
