Hi mate if it is one of those dvd/VCR combo units (i am sure it is)
I had the same thing with the white ribbon cable from dvd to the main
board one of the pins got lifted on the cable
I had this one come in with a noise in it,i thought it was the Dvd drive i removed the drive cleaned and inspected it ,everything was in order,so i put it back in and the noise started again turned out to be the fan in the power supply, now the machine wont play DVDs or videos,It just comes up with Welcome no functions work any ideas, regards Mark.

When you do things right, people won't be sure that you have done anything at all
Yea that cable or the mech or the mpeg board or the 1000 uf cap in the psu in older ones.
We use the elimination method .lol
You Guys are the best, and you were right changed ,that cable everything is fine now thanks again.
i change dvd drives on them about every 3 months , they just dont last.
even pulling them apart , cleaning out the dust and reassembling makes no difference, the fans suck dust through the drive, gets all over the lens , laser running flat out all the time, drives die rapidly...
well thats my guess
cheers fellas

Yea mate .The customers dont like it when they bounce , but its not our fault.
know what you mean oscar, thats why they went by the wayside here, got sick and tired of making excuses, cause you know the customer thinks your incompetent,
my favourite line was always..
"we didn't make it, we didn't break it, and we certainly didn't design the piece of crap"!
P.S uhmm i wonder if there's any DAT-250's out there still working?
When I explained to the guy what avatar I wanted, that wasn't what I meant!
