    Default iredeto ci module - can it be shared

    I have recently picked up an old iredeto ci module

    tested it out in the dm7000 and it recognises and loads
    put my aurora card in it and no pics
    so I killed cccam and then I get pics
    so it appears that cccam cant use a card in the ci module
    and therefore it can't be shared to my other box when used in the ci module

    anyone else played with ci modules ?
    can they be shared ?

    I can get aurora(CI) and fox (card sot) working as well
    in softcam set fox to cccam and aurora set to none
    but when I swap to aurora channel then CCCam is unloaded from memory
    and CI module is not shared.. like I started this thread with

    I don't think that the Ci can be shared at all

    Gidday,

    I've got a DM7025 so what happens may not be relevant... however:

    I've got a cicam which works for standard aurora card and golide but I've never been able to use the card slots until now.

    The new version NewCS 1.16 beta (and Evocamd 2.17) now copes with the golide but not with the standard aurora sub (card version 3.03).

    I don't have a current payTV account but if you guys are able to use cccam for this, maybe you could use cccam/NewCS 1.16beta for both fox and goldie?

    just a thought

    cheers

    I may be wrong but i think you need to have a line pointing to the Ci slot ..# TRY ALL CHIDS : /dev/sci0.. points to card reader but /dev/tts/1 or similar will point to Cl slot.

    I guess that is the answer dragon - unless I can reference it as a device in /dev/something - there is no way to share it
    so there is a /dev/ci and /dev/ca0 - I wonder if I point CCcam at them ?
    Will try in my next "gyro gearloose" time

    Try this

    <newCSconfig>
    <readers name="Dbox">
    <device>
    <name>Multicam</name>
    <type>dbox</type>
    <mhz>600</mhz>
    <node>/dev/tts/1</node>

    Correct.

    As I said above, I don't think from memory that a CI cam can be shared

    I found a heap of different newsc configs a while ago which made me think it could here is one referring to 8in1 on db7000

    <newCSconfig>
    <readers name="SC8">
    <device>
    <name>Slot 0 on SC8</name>
    <type>sc8</type>
    <mhz>600</mhz>
    <node>/dev/tts/1</node>
    <slot>0</slot>
    <parity>odd</parity>
    and it goes on with slot 1,2..8.

    Fernbay is correct, CI modules cannot be shared. They are a hardware rather than software device.
    What would you do if your server was stolen or failed beyond repair?
