mate, all lcd rear pro's suffer from dust, they should really be stripped and service every 6 months, when you put it back to gether try increasing the filtration, had some luck with projectors doing this

best4less: Where did you get the polariser from? Did the TV have a Ricoh or Epson LCD engine in there?

    Did it fix the problem?

I'm having the same issue with my 61", Samsung tells me that only a new engine is the fix - $3000 + labour...

I got the BP96-01256A and it isn't the one for my TV. My TV has a polariser that's a little bigger, and alot thinner than this one.

Thing that pisses me off is that Samsung tells me that they're not available anymore, and from seeing pics of other various polarizers for other projectors, i know i can find one that fits, without having to pay $3000 for a new engine.

    Default Blue Polarizer - BP96-01256A

Hi. Just got my SP61 back from Samsung. Replaced faulty Blue Polarizer, Item Code BP96-01256A. Fixed the problem which was the yellowing of the screen. I actually kicked up a bit of a stink about the fact that a 5 year old TV that cost me a fortune has packed up and they fixed it out of warranty...so happy about that but also not re feedback above re cleaning. Will look into how to best do that.

Hey B4L With the LG MW60s its often the LCD pickup itself.
We shudder at the thought of LCD rearpros.
Havent seen a good one yet.lol
Normally its an effect of parts of the screen that reflect the burning of the parts. Not usually the entire screen.
Im talking our experience here .Others welcome.

shunter: you have got to be shitting me. When my 4 y/o 61" had that issue they didn't give a shit

Also to make things worse my TV doesn't have the engine that suits the BP96-01256A part, it's some other engine that has no polarisers available for it anymore.

oscar, your dead right about the cheaper stuff, they cant make it AND give good support for that price

now the expensive stuff gets great support, but you've gotta part with the big bucks!

    bose
    metz
    loewe
    nad
    denon
    grundig

when they spend that type of money they're more likely to get it fixed!

Hey dude so is there anything in particular you did to achieve this because am in the same boat atm. My TV repair man is sending Samsung a report about the problem and the fact he was told the part is no longer available from Samsung along with my receipt. My tv is out of warranty now 17months should I send them cake or yell at them on the phone?

    Cheers

The BP96-01256A is still available if you know where to look. Chances are your 61" doesn't have the optical engine that used that particular part. The one that your engine needs hasn't been available for years.

I was in the same boat last year and Samsung basically said either buy a new engine at the heavily discounted price of $1100 and then pay $450 for a technician to install it.

I ended up getting it repaired for much less than that. All the repairman did was use another 2nd hand polariser that he got from another broken TV.
