Default How to make the external phoenix reader read the card?

I just got a phoenix reader today, put the gammar card into the external phoenix reader/programmer, but the reader does not read the card. Only the power light is on, the data light is off.

Does anyone know how to make the reader work for DM500?

    Thank you.

I modified the ccam.cfg as following:
    CAMKEY: /dev/tts/0 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
    CAMDATA: /dev/tts/0 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
    SERIAL READER : /dev/tts/0 phoenix

    Here is the entitlements:
    card reader /dev/sci0
    no or unknown card inserted

    card reader /dev/tts/0
    no or unknown card inserted

Have a read down this thread.

You may find you have to remove the word 'phoenix' from your SERIAL READER line and or add the line also

    TRY ALL CHIDS : /dev/tts/0

Thanks Leroy. But it still does not work. Just wonder whether your phoenix reader has two lights, and both of them on when reading. As mine, only power light is on,data light is off. Seems like it is not on data transfer mode.

After untick "Don't open serial port", the light can flash once I change the channel. But still cannot watch TV. Check deamboxip:16001,
    entitlements:
    card reader /dev/sci0
    no or unknown card inserted

    card reader /dev/tts/0
    no or unknown card inserted
Looks like the reader cannot read the card.

What card and is it in the right way??????
Also the serial lead your using did it come with the programmer or is it an old one you had or brought as all the pins must be straight through.

I am running at 6M, the serial lead comes with the programmer, it works as when I untick "don't open serial port", data light flashes (which means commnuincating the dreambox). I am using the gammar card and in the right way.
I do suspect the programmer may not work with dreambox, as the seller only tested with computer.

Don't open serial port must be ticked when using phoenix as leroypatrol mentioned.

Back to basics. Here's my cccam.cfg file

    SERIAL READER : /dev/tts/0 phoenix
    B: /dev/tts/0 04
    CAMKEY: /dev/tts/0 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
    CAMDATA: /dev/tts/0 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

Now did you try this with and without the word phoenix in the serial reader line?

I have ticked "Don't open serial port", but it still does not work. The data light never flashes when I press any button on remote controller. Looks like not read the card at all.

I will keep trying tomorrow. Thank you very much Blade and Leroy.

Maybe I should post my card reader to somebody who can test for me.

The light should flash when you first start the cam, then flash with each ecm & eem sent to the card.
Might be worth testing reader on computer to read card with dlog or fm card that way you can see what the reader does as it reads card.
    Good luck

    Tried:
SERIAL READER : /dev/tts/0 phoenix(also tried no phoenix)
    B: /dev/tts/0 04
    CAMKEY: /dev/tts/0 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
    CAMDATA: /dev/tts/0 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

Still not work, when I change the channel, the data light does not flash. Maybe something wrong with the cable.

But when I untick the "Don't open serial port", the data light actually flashes, which means the dreambox does communicate with the card reader.

I will keep trying and update what I did.

Just tested the cable, the cable provided is a strait through cable, just like an extention rs232 cable, connection is ok.
Actullay I am running ccam 2.0.0.5, as I can not update from blue panel, cannot find and down load it, does it matter with this issue.

Reflash image with Nabilo, nice image. But the smart card reader still not work. No difference between the previous image. CCam 2.0.8 still not work.
But I know the RS232 port works fine. Should be the smart card reader problem. Contacting seller....

connect the reader to the pc you are using and download a copy of fmcard and read the card to see if it works. I have seen the odd DM500 with a comm port that works fine for downloading images but no go with ext readers.
