    Default Programming a pager

Would it be possible to set up a pager for example on the Tas Emergency Pager network which is 0n 148.7125 Mhz and get all the pager message
ie program the pager to decode every signal it recives and are the pagers reciving frequency program by some type of programer or are they crystal controlled and you would have to order a specific pager with the appropriare frequncy

I was thinking that it should be possible to modify a pager to recieve all heard packets in the same way that a TNC can. The problem is flooding of the pager's memory.

The scanner and PC is a simpler method. It would be good if a PDA could do it too.

there are some cool pocsag programs out there,

a few of them upload pocsag data to an ftp site that you could use any web browser to monitor from anywhere. ( then u can use a PDA )

Tastech, been looking for something similar for a wile now.
Only thing i could realy find was buy a pager that can be programmed from the keypad, such as a Apollo gold.
    But they are not cheap.

So is it possible to program a pasger to virtually decode any signal it recives ie somehow all cap codes i have heard when functioning a pager wakes up once a second to listen for its cap code
I have seen on the internnet where you can purchase pagers in australia the rx frequency appears to be programmable no crystal changes required

a normal pager does decode everything but has a inbuilt filter that looks for its number you cant change the software in a pager to decode all.

You'll find that all pagers these days are synthesised, and programmable.
You'd also find that certain supervisors of each agency in each region will receive all incident messages sent to them. Maybe find out what CAP codes they are, that shouldn't be hard to determine, then program your pager with that CAP code. You'd need four pagers per region for each of the services - and not forgetting each service will have varying geographic regions. So if you want statewide coverage, you might have to have a few dozen pagers!

Perhaps it may be possible to rehash the firmware of a pager to make it display all messages regardless of wether its CAP is being addressed? Your little hacked device would be going off its nut every few seconds, is that what you really want?
