I just spent the day installing a Ness D8x security panel, replacing my old C&K panel that died, and connecting in the existing sensors, reed switches, external siren etc, and all good so far.

This kit comes with the new touch screen pad, which seems to allow a fair degree of 'User' programming, but does not from what I can see allow me to get into Installer programming.

Does anyone know if this is a limitation of the touch screen pad?

If I knew the pin-outs for the serial cable I'd use the Ness Comms software and programme the panel with my laptop, but the cable costs $83, a huge amount I think for a basic serial cable using standard fittings at each end.
cheers
