Default TomTom one XL promotional “Free 2008 Australian map”

The one XL promotional “Free 2008 Australian map” was due out June 1. It didn’t happen so I got a new hobby and complained. The emails flew and this is what I learned and shared with you.
    1. I haven’t been able to set up the required servers / mirrors to service the number of downloads required on the date advertised, neither have I extended the download period.
    2. Oh, perhaps that wasn’t the problem. It seems that I can now blame Telstra as the 2008 sensis map isn’t finished yet, although by the time you get it, 2008 may well be.
    3. Although as time beyond the date of the promotion’s advertised release passes and therefore devalues that promotion, I offer no remuneration for this difference in value.
    4. I feel really bad about this entire situation and wish you would stop bothering me with your incessant whining.
    Regards
    Eldette

Just wondering what version Sensis maps version the current Australian v7.20 maps that have just been released last month for $149.95 are based on and the difference between the v7.20 maps and the new 2008 maps that were supposed to be out on 1st june.

I already have the v7.20 maps running on my TomTom but noticed that many of the stock POIs. especially resteraunts in my local area that haven't been in business for at least four or five years. and a large Centro shoping center in my area isn't even listed.

I bought 2 GO720's with the "free" 2008 map upgrade, i sent in the paperwork but i am unable to update either GPS.

I tried to contact them by email and phone (1300 135 604) and all i got was redirected to a number which had nothing to do with TOMTOM.

Does Anyone know any number to contact TOMTOM in Australia?

    Thanks.

    Hi

I have also been annoying Tomtom regarding the Free 2008 Map update - when I rang them last week, I was told that I will receive an activation code via email, and guess what, today it arrived. Providing you have a Tomtom Home web account and the TomTom HOME software, you will be able to enter your activation code and download the v720.1868 map.

    BE WARNED
The cspeech_AUS.dat file is missing, therefore the speech recognition is not available with this map. I have already complained to TomTom Australia, and they tell me there is nothing they can do, and I can only downgrade to the previous map, if I have a backup before I updated.

Stupid me, I backed up immediately after updating to the new map - D'Oh!

    Cheers, DMan.

    v720.1868 map.
Can anyone confirm this is the 2008 version.
Because if it is, well I have to buy a street directory. Mapshare only renames streets or speed limits. It doesn't add new roads or bypasses.
How many times does the car symbol go bush. v720 must be at least 3 years old.

    Talking TomTom V720.1868 2008 Map

The V720.1868 Map has been updated compared to the previous V700 Map.

There is a new street in Fortitude Valley in Brisbane called "Green Square Close" that is not on the old map but it is on the new map.

    Take care

720.1868 is the latest, and is based on Whereis V15. It does have several new roads that were absent from Whereis V14 maps in my area.
