If it's a rear pro or a DLP, forget it & save your time & money.
Got this tv today and seems to run fine all afternoon then turn it on tonight (when it's a bit cooler/more humid?) and it turns itself of to standby.
I seem to be able to turn it back on but soon it goes back to standby.
Powersupply?
Will get a model number when I sober up.

Neither of those Ferny, I've sobered up enough to read the model number now.
It's a plasma LG 60PC1D
Check C205, C223, C234, C238, C240, C241, C242, C244, C253 in the SMPS. These caps cause slow start up and no start up, but could also be part of the problem with your plasma.

Just upping the service manual to the filebox now mate
the file will be called 60PC1D

Hope it helps

If you have access to a service remote control you can look up the power off history. Sometimes the cooling fans can produce this symptom.

Aldi had some cheap harmony remotes but you can find them on ebay for $20-30.
That's an interesting website.

Take the back off it and have a look and see if the fans spin up when you turn it on. Then also check the capacitors I mentioned before and see if any of them have bulged tops.
Warning High Voltage Inside so be careful

Thanks mickstv, will have a look tomorrow and report back
Looks like you were right
Caps 238, 240, 241, 242, 244 and 253 are bulged
Just about to order some from Wes components
Also noticed neither of the fans were turning although when I tried to help them along it seemed as they were trying to
Could this be because of the faulty caps or another problem?
Cheers Mick, will do
Just waiting to hear back from WES components for a login but I guess they don't process them on weekends/automatically
