Post HID MiniProx Reader Continuos Beeping on TECOM 4DC

I had this reader continuously beeping while the area was disarmed, and also it would not read any badges. There was no programming for that effect. However, reader worked fine when the area was armed.

Guys could you please give me your opinions on this. May be someone had fixed such an issue.

Mmm, hard to know without seeing the program. My first action would be to check all connections. Then swap the reader with one of the other ones that you know to be fine. See if the problem moves or stays at the same door.

If the problem moves to another door then it's a faulty reader. If the beeping stays at the same door then its a cable/connection/programming problem. Hope that helps

The prox reader is a dumb device, it doesn't care if an area is armed or not.. As long as it goes beep when you card it and it spits out data it's working. I'd be looking at the programming again..

    Default Prox Wiring

If the beeper on a prox is active, it cannot read cards presented to it. Some anomaly, maybe HID needs to address.
As for why it is beeping, check that the beeper and led wires are terminated correctly. This can cause random events.

I think this is my answer. The original reader was beeping and wouldn't read a card unless system was armed; so replaced the reader. But problem remained with beeping too. Beeper line was cut and reader began working. Just wonder why beeper went normal when system was armed.
