Glassbreak Testing
Hello everyone,
We have a whole lot of glass break detectors, in sealed glass cabinets. There is no way into these glass cabinets to the glass break, without completely disassembling the cabinet - not at all a feasible option.
On top of this, the glass breaks need to be tested very regularly (every 3 months).
Has anyone got, or know where to get, a glass break tester, that will produce a loud enough noise to penetrate the glass? Or does anyone know an alternate method that tests the devices? The glass is approx 8-10mm thick depending on cabinet.
Anyone servicing a Museum or similar will know exactly what Im talking about!
Thanks Heaps

Seems a bit strange they would install something sealed in a glass cabinet and then expect it to be tested without getting into said cabinet. I wonder how it's been done previously...?
Anyhow, any good security supplier will have glass break testers. I've found two different types, the ones that simulate the broken glass sound... Work well, the ones that use an electronic blip sound, not so good.
If you get one that's reasonably loud, depending on the glass break detector, it might need the "thump / crash" test, whereby you hit the glass with your hand and simultaneously press the glass break tester to get the crash. Takes a bit of practice.
Wear hearing protection when using testers.
