Angry Can i get Indonesian free to air from Albany WA??

Hi, I need help. My wife is from Indonesia and I live in Albany, WA. I want
to get free to air Indonesian TV for her. My friend gave me a 45cm dish and
a receiver for the dish. The receiver ( the bit that sits in front of the
dish) is an Acer Model Number LNBFQUW1 Quad digital LNBF. The frequency is
11.7 - 12.75 Ghz LO 10.7 Ghz. #Will this do the job to get those free to
air Indonesian channels and can you tell me which Decoder I need. #If not, can you please tell me what I need and the approx cost. I need to try and Find the cheapest way as I am on a disability pension and don't have a lot of money
Thank you and have a beaut day - Gerry.

    G'Day Cobber.
Palalpa D is a possibility on C band, the KU band dish and LNB are useless, you would need a dish Two Metres or more, a C Band LNB and decoder for WA.

Here is the footprint, but you will need advice locally for dish size.
Nothing you have, except your wife, will get you Indonesia.
With luck and good advice, I doubt you can DIY for much less than $500.
Keep an eye out for anyone leaving Town, may get a cheap setup.

Kindest Regards, " The Druid ".

It's not similar at all. The one for postage is an SD DVB-S MPEG2 receiver with composite outputs for the TV and the Openbox S10 is a HD DVB-S2 MPEG4 PVR receiver with HDMI - big difference.

    @Gerry, Have a look here

There are a few channels that are actually marked Indonesian.

What receiver were you given? It might do the trick to get started.

That's not the receiver it's called the LNB. It's a 10700 Ku band LNB.
The satellite receiver is like the set top box that sits on your TV.

Hey Leroy, is the LNB ok to do the job on a bigger antenna? Also, can you give me the link to purchase the openbox s10. Will the openbox s10 do the job i want to do? Thank you - Gerry

The Openbox will do the job nicely but you might be able to use the receiver you already have. What brand is it?

As mentioned above by Carjackma, you'll need a new 5150 C-Band LNB as well. The one you have is only suitable for Ku band (the small dishes)

A 10700 Ku Band LNB is only suitable for Ku Band signals, so if you are after C Band signals, then no, it's not suitable.

You would require a C-Band LNB.

The LNB is the actual antenna, the dish is just a reflector which captures the signal and concentrates it into a pencil-thin beam and directs it into the LNB.

The LNB has tiny antennas inside and circuitry which amplifies and converts the signal.

Those signals are then sent down the coax cable to the receiver (also known as a satellite decoder) which is the set top box that you select the channels on.

The decoder has to be tuned (just like a terrestrial TV tuner) to the satellite the dish is pointed at.

The Openbox S10 is suitable for both Ku and C Band signals, when used with the appropriate dish and LNB for the respective bands.

I only do receivers. I've sent you a PM with details. Someone in WA can probably tell you a place to get a dish and LNB.
