Default Super Duper Long Shot -- Inner Range Prox Reader - Programming

    Howdy All,

As usual, the night before something needs to be done, ITs left up to me to figure it out, I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the IR Prox Reader Programmer Kit, Essentiall software and a lead to power it up, I've tried all the combinations of the cabling in the RS232 Lead provided, and I'm getting a little peeved...

    Essentially a Pos/Neg/?/? Connector that goes to a RS232 port ..

Anyone.. help... And I've tried CSD, they dont want to know you after 5..

What are you trying to do, program a new batch of cards or program cards for a IR access control system?

    Gday Red.

I assume you are using the IR kit that allows you to change the format of cards that can be presented to the IR Secure reader head. Part 993037

The reader head has to be powered, this is usually done from the reader module power (0V +VRD) There is a figure 8 cable with a blue connector, left is 0V, Right is +VE when looking from the top. The reader will "beep" when powering up like normal.

The D9 Female serial cable plugs into the PC via a serial port or a USB-Serial adaptor, if you are using USB-Serial, make sure the drivers are installed correctly.

The 4 way PIN header will have a 0V marking over the heat shrink. Orientate the 0V to the top and the PINs to your right hand side.
From Top to bottom, pins are as follows.
    Black- 0V
    Red- +
    White- D1
    Green- D0
(Exactly the same way it is wired onto the reader PCB)
Get 2*2 blue connectors, wire the wires from the reader head as above.

The software is very straight forward, as long as the serial port is correct and the wiring correct, hitting the "upload" button will read the heads current configuration. There are tick boxes to select what format you want the cards to be. Software is called ProxConfig.exe, its on the IR website under the restricted download section.

The manual does have full wiring diagrams, should have come in the kit?
