Help with Dreambox setup with NZ Sky

Hi

I have been reading for days trying to get this to work and not getting anywhere. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a sky subscription and have a blue 45xx card
I have PLI Jade flashed to my dreambox
I have manually installed oscam

When i run oscam from telnet I get cannot open file /var/tuxbox/config/oscam.services and then bind request failed over and over again.

In my softcam setup I have
Default softcam = CCcam-2.0.9
Cardserver = oscam

when i press the yellow button for card info I get
"welcome to the cccam information client.
Username: Sorry!"

I was trying to track down a copy of gareths image from this thread here but have had no luck.

I am not afraid to read and trust me I have done heaps before I posted this but if anyone could point out where I am going wrong it would be greatly appreciated

start with SCAM, it's way easier, no need for config.

Also, CCCam + NewCS also work just as well as oscam in my experience.

Ok i downloaded Scam 3.52 from the downloads section in software management. Set it as my default softcam and rebooted but i am still getting no card inserted under cardinfo.

What image are you using?

Ok I tried Scam 3.29 after doing some more reading as it appears 3.52 may have some problems with Dm500 box's but still no luck I just get "No cards inserted"

select 'search' on the menu bar above and type in skynz and there are many threads on this topic. Also you need to have the correct card as well.

Post I have read over and over again

Most people seem to have used gareths image but the link is gone.
I have a 45xx card so it should work from what i have read.

Dumb question, but you are actually putting the card with the gold chip facing downwards right?

Yes gold chip facing down.
Its a dreambox dm500s not sure if its a clone or original.

I keep reading over to see if ive missed something and still having no luck.

You might have to try a phoenix connected to the serial port

So I have searched on all the SlY NZ threads and read them and re-read them..

I am just trying to set up my DB500s so that I can take the card from the MySk# HDI box.. a blue card with a NZ45001B number....and insert it into my dreambox so I can watch in another room.

I currently have PLI Iolite.. I downloaded one of the newer PLI images.. they all seem to be betas.. but I cant configure for my LNB correctly.

Can someone give me a recommended image.. and cam to use?

I assume if I am not setting up as a card server.. or client that I dont need to edit any config files?

AS above I had to use an external card reader to get my dreambox dm500 to read my 45xx skycard (brought the jaycar reader kit from jaycar). I used oscam and the latest openpli image.

I dont think these images ever get out of beta as they are open source and always getting tweaked etc.

The image I used was this one

To configure your LNB settings in openpli you go to
Setup->sattelites and transponders->sattelite configuration and then from memory you can select user defined configuration and enter your dish settings from there.

Dont even bother trying to get your sky card working if you dont have freeview working yet

the PLI Iolite image I am using does work with Freeview.
In the past ( > 1 year ago) it also used to work with sly as well.. And was just a simple matter of swapping (the same card i have now) between boxes.. I just used a softcam.. i think was CCCam but cant guarantee it...

So have they changed something to stop my original setup working?.. and everyone with dreambox now has to use an external cardreader?

Sorry my reading of the thread assumed that you were setting up a cardserver arrangement, hence why you needed the external card reader?

Im not sure if something has changed as i didn't have a setup back then. But the same config (files, setup oscam etc) that didn't work with the internal reader fired straight up with the external reader.

I haven't investigated any further as the external reader is working perfectly.
