Is this 'Class' that was on ABC2 last night (Wed 26/10) that is supposed to be a spin off of Dr Who?

I called up the info guide and I had no idea what it was about so I only saw it for a few minutes.

You missed my alert on the previous page & pheggies post as well??

not a bad show actually, will watch & see where it heads.

You can most likely catch it on ABC iView, 2 episodes already been on.

I'm not going to watch it, I hate spoilers, thanks for the warning. I will wait patiently for the Special on ABC.

That's bloody terrible, even by 1960's standards!

Yeah, watched it on i-View yesterday morning. Looks like it was aimed squarely at the American market. The show has certainly moved well away from its origins. Peter Capaldi and his new sidekicks look promising, now, all they need do is find some decent story tellers.

Was it just me or did they play the Theme WITHOUT stuffing it about as they have done in the past???
Hearing it took me back to the days of William Hartnell..........

During the show it did feel a bit 'Pantomimey' and I was waiting for the 'Dame' to appear to explain each scene but overall it wasnt bad.
I am not overly thrilled with the way they have Peter Capaldi delivering his supposedly dramatic lines as I feel he gets a bit too 'Manic' with it.

TBH, I'm not overly thrilled with Capaldi as the Doctor at all, yes he grows on me over time (no pun intended), but then if I watch the re-runs with Matt Smith as the Doctor, I'm reminded how much better the show was before Capaldi, in my opinion of course.

I do think it's not all Capaldi's fault, although I'm guessing it was he who decided to play the part a little 'senile', but the story plots have left something to be desired as well. I think I've said it before but I wish they'd worry less about laying "pipework" for some plot that won't be revealed until the end of the season and concentrate more on each episode as a separate entity.

It looks a lot like these "brain" aliens will be the subject of the ongoing season-long plot for the coming year too, as they leader made his escape at the end of the xmas special, if you'll remember, these aliens were servants of King Hydroflax in the previous xmas special. But I have to point out a gaping hole in the plot here... they remove the human host's brain to replace it with an alien brain, which is apparently a "tight fit", but when they "unzip" their heads to pull out a gun or some other object, WHERE'S THE BRAIN? Are their brains hollow or something? And if so, why isn't there a zipper shown on the brains in the jars?

Anyway, I'm hopeful the new "companion" will bring a little something extra with her this season, although it looks from the previews that the Doctor will have two companions this year with Nardole along for the ride, perhaps harking back to the Amy & Rory days?

The 'Zipper' would only need to be on the covering (skin) which when opened, allows the 2 halves of the Brain to separate but what holds the 2 parts together when in the Jar???
They have always said we use very little of the Brain we have so MAYBE its sorta shrunk and that allows a pocket to form to hold objects??
But if their that far advanced, you would think they have something more 'upmarket' than 20/21st century gun wouldnt you?

Peter Capaldi is leaving Doctor Who at the end of this series (The Christmas Episode)

The new series starts on the April 15 in the UK, so hopefully we will see it on the 16th.

Heard that on the radio, yesterday. Sadly, I think Capaldi had the makings of a great Doctor, however the script writers let him down. I think that a lot of the plot lines so far were rather lame. There was some discussion on who was the best Doctor with many saying Matt Smith of the modern era and Tom Baker of all eras. John Pertwee, Sylvester McCoy, David Tennant and Christopher Eccleston all gaining honourable mentions.

Personally I tend to agree, Matt Smith of the modern ones (though I did like Eccleston). Tom Baker did the best of the lot followed closely by Pertwee.
    What say you?
