I know the feeling.
That was our intent but both of us slept through! We were going to go to the theatre to watch it, but that fell through owing to hospital visit. I could watch it on iView, but will wait until it's on tonight. The world, surprisingly, has not ended because I missed it. I must be slipping.
I know the feeling.
For most of my life, I lived a delusion
Yes but I didn't want to post any spoilers for those that are about to see it for the first time on ABC tonight.
My first impression is that I don't think much of Peter Capaldi as the Doctor or as an actor for that matter, although he does a great impression of Billy Connolly.
What the hell is with all his accent changes? I'm not sure if it's deliberate (ie in the script) but one minute he's speaking in a Southern English accent and the next he has a strong Scottish accent, then he flips back again. This happens all through the episode so I'm not sure if there's supposed to be a point to it or he just can't keep it straight?
Andrew
I thinks it's part of him settling into his new body. All the doctors have had a period of instability. He has yet to choose his clothing which all eventually do.

As a plot, I'm not sure that I liked this episode. Capaldi, though, may make a great doctor, he reminds me, a little, of Tom Baker, I hope his character settles into a recognisable role. He has some great acts to follow. Will have to watch it again, methinks, to see if it was just me, or just a sloppy script.
I'm with porkop on that; it is just the way the new Doctors are when settling in to a new body. It's kind of corny & could be toned down a bit.
I have noted over the years I quite often don't like the first appearance of a new Doctor, however I usually grow to like them.
Matt Smith took a couple of episodes to get used to.
The only ones I never got used to were Colin Baker & Sylvester McCoy. I probably should have given them a few more episodes; or not.
Maybe it was just the poor scripts, sets & special effects of the time.
Maybe I should go back & give them another look & watch a few more of their episodes?
Cheers, Tiny

Not me, I was happy to wait until Sunday night and it was definitely different with the mix of the doctors during transition, a bit puzzling that most everyone seemed be starting fresh (no 'past') except for one.
I have to say this regeneration doesnt seem to have his 'string' wound as tightly as the previous ones did which I am rather happier about but the expressed hope that this 'regeneration' wasnt 'Old with Grey hair and lines' caused me to think just what the Doctor looked like the very first time he appeared in our lives.....................
I will say I have to listen very carefully when the Doctor speaks as the accent and pronunciation of his words can catch me out.
The new Intro was well done and they havent buggered about jazzing up the theme as they have done before with a new season.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!
The theme tune has been modified, it reminds me of the Davidson years which I did not like. As I said, Capaldi has promise. just hope the script improves.
For the early risers, ABC has kept the time slot for episode 2; Into the Dalek, at 433am Sun 31st Aug.
For the rest of us, 742pm is still on as well.
Cheers, Tiny

Thanks Tiny, I wonder if this will continue for the rest of the series and perhaps start a trend for other shows to follow suit as there have been some US shows advertising the episode is available a 'few hours after the US screening', perhaps the way of the future along with Internet 'streaming'?

Dare I say it may be due to the social forum phenomenon, where relatives & friends are connecting on an almost live basis & would like to watch & discuss their favourite shows with each other live, unlike we are doing here.
So the big shows are being simulcast to accommodate this & reduce piracy?
Anyway back on topic, "Into the Dalek" has an ominous feeling about it & should be intriguing as Clara was, in the future of her life, inside a Dalek when The Doctor first met her, then went back in time & plucked her out of time. Hmmmm! Gets a bit twisted this time travel stuff.
Or could have nothing to do with that?
Can't wait. Yep I'm a Doctor Who tragic.
No spoilers please from people who have read any script or plot leaks.
Cheers, Tiny

I'm with you there Tiny. No spoilers until after the PM airing, please.
I thought that was a classic episode, loved the sense of humour in it.
I'm really starting to like the new Doctor.DW: This is Clara; she's not my assistant.... some other word for it.
Clara: I'm his carer.
DW: Yes she cares so I don't have to!

Fortunately not being a Twitter/Facebook whatever user I dont have to worry about anyone spoiling any shows I watch BUT this is something we are all going to have to be wary of having a show spoilt for us or spoiling it for someone else accidentally.

WTF? I hope that's not directed at me, the show was on yesterday, I didn't post till today!

That's funny, I thought it was a shot at me...
Yes, the last episode was a marked improvement on the first one. I think Capaldi has the makings of one of the better Doctors, so far, I'm liking him. I missed that little exchange, Tiny, thanks for sharing it.
Well,
Episode 3; "Robot of Sherwood" I found a little lacking in substance, however still entertaining.
Episode 4; "Listen" was quite interesting, delving into time loops & the Doctors past?
Episode 5; "Time Heist" was extremely clever with multiple time loops & much guessing, very well done.
I am very much liking Peter Capaldi's character, very talented actor.
Cheers, Tiny

I have to agree with you there Tiny, Capaldi as the Doctor is growing on me but I don't much like where they're going with Clara and this Pink guy, it seems pretty obvious that she and he are the future great grand parents of Oswald the time traveling astronaut so it follows that Rupert Pink is going to become something of a fixture in this series, unfortunately.
Time Heist was, for my liking, the most well written episode of the season so far by a country mile, up until now it seemed like they were trying to cram too much into the scripts, maybe in an attempt to lay too much "pipework" for the future? There has been a plethora of what seems like hints dropped that don't appear to have any relevance as yet, like the Doctor refusing to take Journey Blue because he doesn't like soldiers, yet Rupert Pink was also a soldier, time will tell I guess.
Andrew
Personally, I don't like the scripting for the new series at all. Too much happening and too much thinking required. The average viewer does not have a good attention span, look at the crap that is usually dished up and you'll know what I mean. If the series continues down this road I suspect that viewers may slowly drop off and there will be another untimely end for the Doctor. Pity because I like Capaldi as the Doctor.
