So that was the season finale ay, everybody gone, Doctor regenerating... looks like we have to wait six months till the Christmas episode now to see what happens?

They've certainly dropped enough hints to indicate that we're getting a female Doctor next time around?

And the "original" doctor has only a passing resemblance to William Hartnell, but, he wasn't too bad.

He did a passable imitation of William 'Bill' Hartnell in that story of the making of dr Who.
What odds he might be the next dr Who ? (Just joking, Joyce !)

You might be right there Gordon, it would certainly put a new twist on it and allow re-use of the old story lines, too.

New doctor will be revealed on BBC after Wimbledon mens final.
Philip Glenister would be my pick, but not very likely.........
Unfortunately I think the PC brigade might have destroyed dr who and it might be a woman.
Only 2 women I could tolerate, Michelle Gomez (missy) or Olivia Colman.
Maybe missy/the master died at the end of last series for a reason.....

Yeah unfortunately they seem to be going overboard with the whole "political correctness" thing, so far in fact that I think they're becoming politically incorrect in the other direction!

Not sure what their agenda is but it's been building up since the days of Torchwood and the way they're going I would not be surprised if the new Doctor is either gay or lesbian (or both) at this rate? I don't know why sexuality has to come into it at all, the Doctor's character has always been asexual, at least up until David Tennant and Billy Piper's tenure, but surely we've paid for that by now?

For my money the whole series needs to be taken to another production team with a whole new approach, new writers, new actors, and so on. Just write-off the last few seasons and start again. If they can't do that I would prefer the show go back into hiatus for a few years rather than being run into the ground again.

I see the "Doctor Who" franchise as a kind of national treasure and somebody needs to step-in and protect it!

Jodie Whittaker becomes the first female Time Lord (she was the mother of the missing boy in Broadchurch).

So I guess the term Time Lord will no longer be in use and we will have to refer to the new Dr as a Time Lady.

It had to happen. I'm not certain that the timing for it is correct. PC brigade seems to have made it so. I don't particularly like the current script writing. Personally I think that Peter Capaldi was never given a chance to become the Doctor that he could have been. To me, he had the potential to be another Tom Baker, but for the crap stories. I think that would have been better re-booting the first series using a Hartnell lookalike. I must admit, after Tom Baker, I gave up on Dr Who until the re-boot. I have since watched all those episodes and find that I did not miss much. Will the bird be as good as the bloke, time will tell, I suppose. Will the scripts improve? That is another issue all together.

Agreed, Dr. Who belongs and also died around the era the The Goodies were on TV.
If you've watched it beyond that, id be more concerned about the viewer than the shows cast.

I say give her a chance to show what she can do with the show.

There is also going to be a new head Doctor Who writer, Chris Chibnall, who has previously written a couple of episodes, albeit not the best episodes, however again will just have to give him a go.
He was also head writer of Torchwood & the series Broadchurch that Jodie Whittaker & David Tennant were in. I really liked Broadchurch.

We'll just have to wait & see.
    Cheers, Tiny

If that is to be the case mkhannah, I think that they will have shot themselves in the, errr, private parts, big time. The doctor does know all of those things through regeneration. As to Eric Abetz, he obviously knows nothing of Dr Who. None of his partners over the decades have ever needed time off to "that" time of month.

When I first read that article I thought; that's very chauvinist & sexist, then I thought about it & realised that every time The Doctor regenerates he has been in a state of confusion for many days afterwards until finally regaining past knowledge, so it would not be out of character for this to happen. Just saying.

    I'll ignore Eric Abetz,

I'll reserve my judgement on the new Doctor. Peter Davidson and Colin Baker did nothing for me if she's better than them she might be in with a chance. When does the new series start?
