The ADSL central filter/splitter MUST be connected on the lead-in cable BEFORE any other cabling or distribution.
I am attempting to remedy a star wired house as I believe the star wiring is the reason the internet keeps dropping.
The black 2 pair lead-in cable is joined to 3 tech-wire cables only one of which is required.
Unfortunately the join in the lead-in and tech-wires is in a cavity of a room that was originally a garage and has been sheeted up and no access to the joint/terminal block which is behind the gyprock.
I can cut two of the star wired cables away in the ceiling (but not at the joint/terminal block) and then fit a central filter but I shall still have two 5 metre lengths in star wired configuration of tech-wire behind the filter closer to the exchange.
Question is would I still have the modem syncing problems after cutting the 2 cables no longer needed.??

you should see where it enters from outside , i would then cut a hole in the gyprock where
the line is and start from there
dont say linux if i wanted it id install it

Providing I can get enough cable back from the pit for a loop your idea sounds OK.
Then I can see a trip into the corner of the roof cavity to drop another cable down.
tape the new to the old and pull it up very rare to see it fixed properly

Providing the joint/cable termination block is not attached to the wall that should work.
Thanks Marty
