    Default Patch Panel.

    Hello there.
Is it possible to hard wire a switch to a patch panel so I can add a room by plunging into the patch panel instead of hard wiring the five rooms to the patch panel.
    Thank you for your time.

Yes you can go 5 rooms to switch then switch to patch panel using 1 cable.
If I understood your question correctly.

thanks for your time I wan't to go from the 8 port switch to the back of the patch panel and plug in the room 1 to port 1 of the panel so I can add rooms later instead of pulling the panel out each time i need to add a new room

Basically, you're just using the patchbay in reverse.

There's no problem doing it that way, but it means you would need to fit RJ45 plugs to your room cables, instead of terminating them on the patchbay and then jumpering with patch cables to your switch, which is a much easier method.

Remember, if you are fitting RJ45 plugs, they must be of the type to suit the cable used, as there are different types of connectors for stranded and solid data cable.
