    Default TP-LINK modem/PC issue

    Have a client with a TP-LINK TD-8400 modem.

If you switch the modem on without the LAN cable from the PC being connected, within a minute or so the ADSL light is solid, and the 'Internet' light flashes twice then also locks solid and everything is Ok.
Plugging the LAN cable in now gives net access on the PC and everything is OK.

Problem is if the PC is already connected to the modem and running, when the modem is turned on the ADSL light will flash then go solid, but the Internet light won't come on at all.
The modem just sits there doggo and the icon in the system tray says "No internet access".

Can anyone shed any light on this? I've not struck this problem before. It's as if the PC is stopping the modem from connecting to the Internet, despite the ADSL signal being locked.

PC is running Win 7 Ultimate.

Checking the modem status, does it show as authenticated correctly? Maybe PC is sending wrong credentials directly to the server instead of leaving it to the modem. It's weird and as such silly idea like I just presented might be helpful .
