    Default Wireless Problem

    Hi,
My brother is on Bigpond adsl and is having problems, and needs some advice.

    Here is his dilemma

    G'day xxxx

Been having some wireless problems, reckon my old modem & wireless router need updating to a newer model...
    - Kerri's (his wife) Nexus & PC just won't connect sometimes, other times fine, but a pain in the *rse when it won't!
No problems though when I connect direct with wireless router off.
Probably something to do with me being on ADSL 2 now - modem & router are about 5+ years old & no such thing as ADSL 2 then
Reckon a combo wireless router/modem probably the way to go rather than 2 separate units.
Got any advice, or maybe your Austech contacts could suggest which brand/model to buy?

    Ta xxxxx

    Any good information or advice?

It sounds like a wi-fi issue to me. ADSL1 modems will still work on ADSL2+ lines they use the lower portion of the bandwidth only and negotiate the modulation on synch with the DSLAM.
If you are after a cheap reliable unit try the Billion 7700n
