NBN connection to the House?
HI
A n00b question.
How exactly does the NBN connect to your house, I know the Fibre cable comes into your street but does it come directly into your house or is there some other connecting cable, etc. Who here has it already and besides a router and/or hardware what else did you need to set it up?
I maybe getting it in January 2014?

The fibre will come in from the pit or overhead to the side of your house in a box called a PCD from there it makes it way in to where you request it as long as access is easy and there is a power point within 1 meter, on the wall they will install a NTD which is a smaller box that has 6 ports on it, 2 are for voice and 4 for data, you only use one of those data points when you connect up through a provider, from that point you would need to plug it into a router using normal cat5/6 cable.
Any router will get you going but i suggest you get one that is capable of delivering the speeds, i plug mine in directly to my server and use Microsoft TMG as a router/firewall.
Good luck with yours, the speed is fantastic.
