Ok guys, I got myself a Hubsan X4 H107C. let the fun begin.

I got it Mode1, I thought that would be easiest due to my experience with RC Planes & Bikes, so throttle in same position.

Any of you experienced multi-rotor pilots got an opinion on Mode1 versus Mode2?

Why one would be better than the other??

Loving the videos Dronetec, looks like you have some great places to fly there.
    Cheers, Tiny

Hi mate .. good stuff you will enjoy Hubsan so much. There's tunns of videos on the hubsans and what you can do to them .. I started flying on Mode 2 its the easiest to learn flightmode.. What it means its left stick is the throtil up and down and turn left and right, right stick its angle froward back and side to side .. Mode 1 is round the other way..But its all how you like it so mode 1 is fine whatever feels right for you..
once you run a fair few batterys thru it replaced props and popt arms back in a few times.. youl be clickn that expert mode button and ripping flips and rolls before to long..Just get that hover and smooth gentile touch down and youl be fine.

hey all, be careful of where you fly.

A man flying a remote control drone in Lower Township on Friday says he suddenly lost control, after his drone was shot down by his neighbor, according to police.

The man was reportedly taking aerial photographs of his friend's home which is under construction, when he told authorities he heard several shots consistent with a shotgun blast.

Police say they arrested 32-year-old Russell J Percenti, of Lower Township, and charged him with possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and criminal mischief.

Authorities seized the shotgun used to shoot down the drone.

Yeah, the arduino based planes & multirotors have been getting real good at almost reliable programming (user error being a big problem) via a great little free program called Mission Planner/Ground station.

I'm just experimenting with Mission Planner and a Tali H500 carbon, all good so far. Will post up some footage soon.

Queensland researchers have found ways for unmanned aerial vehicles to avoid crashes and land safely on their own
    Not quite but close.
Avoid crashes, not quite but possible with the really expensive hardware, land on their own definitely, return to home, user initiated or failsafe, & land definitely, with the correct parameters set.

Short slow flight of a perfect spring day in our valley.

Sorry about; the sun spots, props & gear in field of view & prop sun strobe effect.
Still getting used to the setup & gimbal adjustments. it's all very new to me.

Faster flight on the way, just got to upload it.
    Cheers, Tiny

I have to ask but are you just attaching a camera to these drones and flying around within your line of sight recording as you go and then replaying once you land or are you transmitting back to ground in 'real time' to see where your flying or is that only in the realm of the big spenders?

Just answered my own question by 'Googling' Fatshark as weirdo mentions in his reply, boy, am I behind the times..................

Weirdo, I don't have Fatshark yet; however intend to get them.
Thought I'd see how this setup goes first.

At present the Controller/Transmitter/receiver has a 5 inch FPV screen, with telemetry.
As below, also has a sun shade. It's good, however can be hard to see with my old eyes & bright sun. If I face my back to the sun it's pretty good. I still like it as I can easily switch my view from the screen to the aircraft. Will test Fatshark when I get them.
Devo F12E with telemetry, GPS data (altitude, speed, distance, coordinates), flight timer, battery voltage monitoring, temperature monitoring and more.

Gordon the camera is attached to the aircraft by a gimbal with servos on the base of the craft & the images are transmitted back to the controller in real time.
The gimbal can be user adjusted during flight in 2 dimensions, pitch (up/down) & roll, for framing what you want. It also is electronically yaw dampened (left to right), actually it is dampened in all 3 dimensions (yaw, pitch & roll), to smooth the effect of flight on the pictures or videos.
Camera; video can be turned on & off while in flight from the controller.
If in Snapshot mode then you can frame the picture, then activate shutter while in flight.
Flight can be held, Position & altitude, in GPS hold mode to prevent drift for pics.

My aircraft looks like this with landing gear retracted.

Here is the faster run at a lower altitude.
I'm starting to feel more confident with flying the big bird now.

The return to home accuracy is pretty good as shown at the end; took off from centre of 1 metre circle, had a good flight then switched on return to land & it landed just off centre of the target.
In early tests when the RTL was used, the worst it did was miss the target by 1.5 metres; it was fairly windy that day.
Actually the bloody thing lands better on it's own than it does with me at the controls. I am getting better though.

    Cheers, Tiny

Another video I took this week.

For some reason the gopro editor has decided to convert it to half speed. It looked ok so I thought I'd keep it anyway.

Some other aerial videos from last week.

I'm in Tasmania, got the Tali H500 from Just Hobbies in Sydney, freight free.

I've done a lot of research on other forums & spoken with Just Hobbies Australia; Fat Sharks do work with the Tali, however I'm thinking now of going with SkyZone V2 goggles.

Edit: The Tali may be a bit sluggish for you mate, you should read this before you buy. Edit2: Forgot to mention that a few things have been changed on the Tali since this review was written. The Flight controller software has been upgraded & is now unlocked for editing settings.
