Found some new competition for the Airdog.

Technology moves faster than you can think.

    Check these out.

The 3DR IRIS+ is your aerial passport: all you need to get started shooting photos and video from incredible new perspectives. Powered by 3DR’s world famous autopilot, IRIS+ is a robot that will automatically fly itself where you tell it to go, while keeping a camera dead steady with two-axis gimbal stabilization. And it’s so smart that it’s simple. You can fly manually using the controller or use the advanced 3PV Follow Me mode that turns IRIS+ into your own hands-free camera crew. And our tablet-based software makes flight planning exactly this easy: If you can draw it, you can fly it. The IRIS+ power system gets you 16 minutes of flight time fully loaded, and you’ll want to fill every second. IRIS+ includes the advanced Pixhawk autopilot system, a high-capacity flight battery, battery charger, ground station radio, and remote controller: everything you need to make IRIS+ your personal aerial photographer.

Order Yours at: igg.me/at/plexidrone DreamQii Introduces the PlexiDrone, an ultra-portable camera robot small enough to fit in a lunch box, but power enough to take up your favorite camera. Completely unobstructed 360 degree field of view, and you can swarm them together to capture life from every angle.
    Cheers, Tiny

Well not here; but the UK are way ahead of us.

I no longer have a drone, I have a toy helicopter (actually a quadcopter & a hexacoptor) if anyone asks.

    Huge fail for Mistletoe drones.

A Mobile Mistletoe drone hovers over a couple. (TGI Friday's)

A new restaurant promotion aimed to bring holiday cheer to diners got off to a bad start when a drone decked out in mistletoe spun out of control and hit a photographer.

On Dec. 4, Georgine Benvenuto, a photographer for the Brooklyn Daily, was capturing the launch of TGI Friday’s “Mobile Mistletoe”—a remote operated drone carrying mistletoe that hovers over restaurant patrons. If the couple kisses, they are awarded “special gift cards to continue their holiday merriment,” according to the chain.

But things went horribly wrong as Benvenuto was snapping a picture of a kissing couple in a Brooklyn outpost of the restaurant. She claims the drone’s operator, David Quiones, lost control of mini machine and the blades started spinning out of control right in front of her face.

“It literally chipped off a tip of my nose,” Benvenuto told . “It took off part of my nose and cut me here, right under my chin.”

    She called the accident horrific.

“I have covered active crime scenes, terrorist strikes, etc. and survived them all, unscathed. “The most dangerous assignment to date was covering this drone story,” Benvenuto .
She said fortunately, the drone missed her eyes ,which would have been detrimental to her career as a photographer.

Quiones allegedly tried to tell Benvenuto that the incident wasn’t that big of a deal and nothing like this “had never happened before.”

“I was told it would not cut me. Well, parents beware, this thing cut off skin on my nose, cut my chin, and got caught in my hair, spinning & spinning. Not a toy I would buy for a child this year or any year,” Benvenuto continued on her post.

Since the incident Frances Karkosak, a spokeswoman for the restaurant, has reiterated that consumers are not allowed to touch the drone but the restaurant is apologetic that the “isolated incident occurred.”
Benvenuto says she will not take legal action against TGI Friday's but urged them to consider taking better precaution with operators. The chain has not announced plans to cancel the Mobile Mistletoe promotion.

    Cheers, Tiny

Great footage but beware of overflying a Police Siege, crashing and falling onto someone as happened this week in Melbourne,as it seems it can land you in court and facing a hefty fine.

Again with the EZ master. This time Port Macquarie.

A tricky one this time. A bit of turbulent air and other full size aircraft flying in the area and being careful to keep clear of people on the ground.

    Actually I didn't, and it didn't crash.
I thought the camera hit the seaweed and that stopped it.
But when I checked the video the last frame is several microseconds before the camera hit the clump of weed.
The plane didn't crash, but I did not intend to land on the weed. The result was a carrier style arrested landing when the camera caught the clump of weed.

The guess is that my car keys and the gopro remote was in my pocket and as I've stepped back I heard the remote beep and it's stopped the camera.

I keep the crashes or bad landings on my videos to learn from them.

Don't forget to get a commercial operators certificate before you start using your drone for commercial/paid work, especially if you are going to be promoting/advertising your work.

    This weeks additions
    Lake Cathie near Port Macquarrie

    Byron Bay beach.

I'm still looking for more interesting places to fly.
So far the flights over Dubbo were interesting to look at and the flight over the beach at Bonny hills is pretty cool.
I want more, I got to find a nudist colony or something
