    Yes, mickc
I had external NIC which I removed today just to see the difference.
Connected to the onboard NIC with the same result.

What I didn't do (silly me - noobs mistake) I didn't uninstall the external NIC drivers from PC.
That means I still have software drivers for the old NIC sitting there.

not sure what characters you have in your username and password login but could it maybe be your pc's regional/language setting?

    I have a little update.
Tried Safe Mode with networking and it works OK.
It means only one thing, I have something running in windows preventing the access.
Need to play a bit more.

That something was ESET AV (:
I couldn't believe that disabling the AV didn't do the trick. Only unchecking ESET from msconfig worked.
Weird issue. Also very strange that ESET over suddenly affected the 192.168.1.1 address only, nothing else was really playing up.
    Food for thought....

192.168.1.1 don't you mean 192.168.0.1 on that router????

Manufacturers use a number of different default router IP addresses.

I have found that 192.168.1.1 is commonly used while 192.168.0.1, 192.168.2.1 and 10.0.0.1 are others.

A posting at provides a comprehensive table of manufacturers versus default modem/router IP addresses.

You have got me confused tristen, in earlier post you said a TP-Link N750 whose ip (LAN) is 192.168.0.1, well mine is unless you have changed yours?

It's not a confusion. The router default IP is 192.168.0.1.
I changed it to 192.168.1.1 as the routers get replaced and I don't bother changing all my PCs and APs to suit.
