I thought I would try set up an emulator......hit the wall though.
I downloaded PCSX2
I downloaded PS2 Bios files
I tried to then work out what to do and got completely lost.
Does anyone out there use this emulator, and if so, can give me a heads up of how to set it up, "dummies style"?
Thanks

It's been a while since I setup my PCSX2, but this is the tutorial I used to do so- it was pretty easy to follow

Thanks...up and running now, but only booting from original disc.
I tried burning an iso. via Imgburn and PowerISO, but got "Unrecovered Read Error" @57% on both programs. It may be a dirty original disc (??), so will try again with another disc soon.
Thanks for the help.

I use PCSX2 with isos with no problems so try downloading the iso online to see if that fixes the problem (you have the original copy so it's legal).
You don't have to burn the iso to a cd, you can read the file directly.

Thanks...I did a post on the imgburn support forums, and the likelyhood (without me checking another try at doing an iso of another one of my originals), is that the drive may be the problem?

OK....all good now.
All three iso. programs would not work on the PS2 Supercars3 iso.'s....all got to 57% and failed.
I dug out a Band Hero PS2 disc and made a successful iso using decryptor, and it emulates ok on PCSX2.
I can get Supercars running on PSCX@ by running it from the disc.
So it appears the Supercars disc must have a scratch or something that is stopping the copy to iso.
All I seem to need to do now is to try tweek the graphics a little, as Supercars plays a bit "blocky", putting some square shades around the cars...will read the forums to see how to try to make it better.
Thanks all for your input....very much appreciated.

its been quiet some time since ive tried to copy ps2 disks, however
i seem to rem that slowing down the read speed can help(this is true in general for all optical media)
also, from memory dvd decrypter used to have "retry count adjustable" settings.
then again with all of the stuffing around, prolly leech *.iso file from online quicker. lol
bring on the nbn i say...

Hi all...another thread I failed to update...damn the old brain!
I did get everything to play, albeit, never as good as the original console.
For most games it seems you have to go in and tweek things, and as such, can become somewhat laborious a task.
Anyhow, mucked around a bit, added a chinese copy wireless joystick, and that made things more playable.
Have not used it for a while now, but may do on the odd occasion in the future?
Thanks all...sorry for late reply.

i also looked into the emulator process.
based on my tests using dif cpu and gpu, results were mixed .
quad intel 4gb ram played somewhat ok, core 2 dou with gpu sucked.
it goes without saying that my oct core ran the few non hardcore games i threw at it very well.
media pc in lounge isnt going to be upgraded anytime soon to oct core, so ill have to fix my poor old ps2.
also, just bought old ps3 to fill in the gaps:-)
now i just need to find ps3 downgraders close to central coast nsw?
thx,
Dam0
