    Default Android ART compatible GPS?

    Hi all

I've recently switched to ART over Dalvik on Android 4.4.

It's heaps ahead of Dalvik - definitely no going back. Unfortunately, my choice of GPS igo isn't compatible. Using vers 9.6.29329069-1-sound_not_fix etc. on GS3 I9300. Crashes on launch.

Anyone using an ART compatible GPS for Android? Thx

It would help to know what program you currently use.
Also checking the ususal candidates on their homepage should show is 4.4 is alread fully supported.
Dalvik or not does not matter for any program that uses standard data storage instead.
In some case it might be enough to rebuild the APK so instead of the dalvik folders a common folder is used, of course this does not work for programs that rely on live data or advertising.

    Thanks Downunder

I was using iGO Primo (2.4) 9.6.29.329069 - GP - BasarSoft, 11 Sep 2013, no TTS worked fine under Dalvik. Now, it crashes on load and .apk fails to reinstall.
I might take a look at rebuilding the APK as you suggest.

I'm also open to trying something new eg TomTom etc. My biggest requirement is the want for quality recent map + recent speed/fixed camera VIC. Any suggestions? I see from your signature you're a TomTom guy.

For me it is easier to stick to the limit than to hunt for the latest and usually incomplete cam files
Also keep in mind that ART is very new and that most programs are designed to work exclusively with Dalvik.
Su much better maybe, but would it is worth to have ART if most programs fail to work with it

Heh same. I got a ticket for doing 63km/h in a 60 a few months ago. $300 and something fine. Granted the cam was hidden, likely in a unmarked, parked car. At any rate, for those cameras that are known, I drop safely below the limit by about 5km/h to be safe as passing through them. But yeah, I do stick to the limit, generally speaking.

Fair call. Of the 64 apps I had installed, only 2 wouldn't work with ART and unfortunately iGo was one of them. Will keep hunting for an alternative.

Found this via teh google edit: removed

It's a list of broken Android apps under ART including iGo version#s, flavours etc. Apparently IGO primo 9.6.22.317625 is working, as well as igo myway. Will switch over.

Might also check out MapFactor and Sygic as free alternatives, for grins.

So sorry about that. I use No Script with Firefox and blocked the offending script. Didn't even know it was there. I've extracted the GPS specific bits:

    iGo
    Working

    iGO Myway
    Working

    Igo Primo
    Not Working

    Igo Primo 2.4
    Not Working

    Igo Primo 9.6.22.297071
    Not Working

    IGO primo 9.6.22.317625
    Working

    IGO primo 9.6.22.317625 full
    Not Working

    IGO Primo 9.6.29.353.462
    Not Working

    TomTom
    Working

    sygic
    Working

Considering the page has malicious (or just annoying) script issues, the above list should be taken with a grain of salt. As I get a working version installed, I'll report back as confirmation.

I can confirm that the version I'm using Primo 9.6.7.235654 of May16 2012 works fine with ART.

    Cheers, Ian
