In the past Uploads were generally slower only because users did not need to upload video of baby's first dirty nappy so to optimise bandwidth a lower upload speed was set. These days, however, You will still find that uploads tend to be far less than downloads. For similar reasons that most of us just upload a bit at a time and are not running huge file servers that every dog and his man is trying to access. Think of it like a footy ground car park, Traffic arrives in a steady stream, but after the match!
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

Our internet is getting gradually slower, just did a speed test and results are line speed 1.23mbps and download 154kb/s on ADSL2+. Was about 4 x that previously, we have had previous issues with the telstra pit in our court filling water as its not covered and in wet or really hot weather we got constant drop outs.

Default Mostly asymmetrical for NBN users

...but you can have symmetrical speeds at home e.g. 100/100 if your RSP offers that option on your fttp install.
Business can opt for that option but home users less so I believe as it is pricier.
    Here's a snippet from a Whirlpool poster:
"Also if you need to move one large file, it can be broken up transferred in many parts and rejoined at the other end. There are systems that can do this on the fly. In Japan I had no trouble maxing out a 100Mbps symmetric connection when uploading the photos I had taken in RAW format. Some days I was taking more than 15GB of pictures."
and: "I am sure if I had a SSD in my notebook, I could go even faster on a 1Gbps symmetric connection (which they have in Japan)"
    ()

One day we may have symmetrical 1Gb plans for the home user that don't cost the farm to buy.

Your download speed is fantastic but what is wrong with your upload speeds?
