I am still doing recoveries as the hdd are 3tb each they are taking a while as have taken ur advise and doing them ond by one. I have recovered a few but the avi header is not there. The file size is there What is the easiest way to put the header back on the file. I have tried virtual dub to reconstruct avi but no luck.

    Any advice would be appreciated

    Thanks for the progress report.

1/. There is a good explanation regarding the nature of avi files in the document posted at .

2/. I have no experience with repairing or reconstructing missing avi file headers, but a quick Google search () returns approximately 681000 results, so as you can see, we are not exactly bereft of advice (good or otherwise). You can check them yourself, but I have listed several to whet your appetite.

Hi guys sorry for taking so long to give an update but have finally sort of managed to recover the files using a program called Ultimate restorer pro. When I say sort of I mean every file I remember the have all come back with correct file size but instead of avi have come back as HA archives. Have done a LOT of reading to try and get them open but WinRAR and 7zip will open them.
Any ideas on how I can extract the contents of these .ha archive files please in order to get the avi files back to how they were or even get them to another format then I can re encode if necessary.

    Any advice is welcome.
