    Post XP how long?

    Hi All
Microsoft is ending support for Win XP sometime in April 2014 so I am told, does anyone know exactly when?

There are lots of rumors that hackers will target XP after this date due to no security updates and the vast amount of XP machines still running, both personal and commercial.

    Like ATM's.
In the UK only about 5% of ATM's have been replaced with new machines.
A new machine cost about $40000-$50000.
Some info I was reading stated that old machines cannot be installed with Win7.
I would think that there will a lot of old machines around for sometime.
Some companies have come to an agreement with Microsoft to pay a fee of $200 a year per unit, then $400 for second year and $600-$800 for the third year to get support for XP.
Easy money if you can get!!

It will be on 8th of April so be sure to upgrade your machines to better operating systems so that you still have a way to get support in case you have any issues. I know that Windows XP is great but it is time to upgrade.

Why upgrade XP on a perfectly good working machine when it is not capable of running windows 7? I have several machines running XP quite happily as media servers, although they have internet capablility, they rarely get used to browse the 'net. I am not about to spend my hard earned cash for a "better mousetrap" whilst the current ones still "catch mice". FWIW, two machines run Windoze 7 and two are running XP.

I have dabbled with Linux, but support for nVidia cards is still very hit and miss, more miss than hit. Some of the other programs I use are still only M$ centric so that precludes it for now.
