Default Upcoming Events for Treasure Hunting

    Wentworth Park Fair, Sydney.

First Sunday of the month. Anything and everything may turn up. Ceramics, glassware, military, linen, books, metalware. Most of the traders are experienced and know the worth of their treasure, but of course you can haggle.

    List of antique fairs

Swap meets are alot of fun. Once again, anything can turn up.

Some of them are huge, for instance the Ballarat swap is at an airstrip with over 2,000 sites.

HUGE MILITARY, ANTIQUE AND COLLECTABLES AUCTION WEEKEND - 25th and 26th July in Bathurst NSW.

Attended the Blackheath Antique fair on Saturday. The community hall was full of traders with lots of people inspecting and buying. $8 entry was a bit steep, especially considering the Victory Theater [free entry] is just around the corner.

If you are a treasure hunter, the Victory Theater is a great spot to hunt. It is an old picture theatre, with two levels of displays. Upper level is a mezzanine around the edge and looks down onto the bottom level. It has about 40 stalls from different sellers. The seller makes sure everything is clearly priced, buyers take items to the front counter to purchase. Small treasures are in locked glass cabinets. You have to locate a key holder if you want to check out a small item. There are plenty of antique and collectable shops in the blue mountains to visit.

On Sunday, I attended the monthly fair at Wentworth Park. $6 entry. The floor was packed with traders, I didn't see any empty tables. Lots of small items for sale. Found plenty of radioactive items and uranium glass. The great thing is you can chat with the traders about the treasures, then barter, compared to a venue such as Victory theatre where the seller is not present.

The Wagga swap meet is on in two weeks time, it is a big swap meet with plenty of people who travel to it. Should be well worth the trip. I attended last year and am looking forward to attending this year. It is held at the Wagga showground. On street parking only for buyers.

Wagga swap meet was alot of fun. There were over 800 sellers. The day was perfect except for the frosty -3 deg start, unlike last year with wind and rain.

The auctions at Orange and Blayney have finally updated details on

Plenty of militaria, collectables, firearms, knives, coins, banknotes etc. View the catalogue for further details. 800 lots for the Orange auction, could be a long day. The Blayney auction still does not have a catalogue online.

In Wimmera, located in northwestern Victoria, there are bimonthly auctions of collectables. The latest catalogue of lots is out, contains plenty of rabbit traps as well as collectables. Send an email to Leigh Hammerton for a copy.

Goulburn swap meet is on this coming weekend. Gates open for buyers, 6am Sunday.

Weather forecast looks good. Min 8, max 25 deg C and sunny.

Last year was wet underfoot. Newspaper article says the year before had 400 vendors and 3,000 buyers.

Expecting good numbers this year as the weather will be kind.

The swap meet was fantastic. Lots of sellers and the weather was almost perfect except for morning fog which meant anyone selling papers, books or quality tools had them covered up till well after 9am.
