Default Picture manipulation under Windows 7 and Windows 8

I've only just noticed - Yes I know I'm slow that if I select my Pictures Library under Windows 7 I can moderately manipulate images, IE - With a Right Hand Mouse button click I can Rotate the image.
I can then leave that directory and come back to it the next day and the image remains rotated.
I found this feature useful when conducting business on eBay, I could update images from my camera, adjust in the library and upload the result.

Under Windows 8 this has all changed - Yes I know, It's Microsoft , what else would I expect
But now whilst I can still rotate the image in the library as soon as I leave that directory the image reverts to it's original layout

Does any one know of a work around???
In hindsight I should have posted my Facebook status as: "I've blown the head gasket on my 1997 XR3i" rather than "I've just buggered a 14 year old escort".
The police still haven't seen the funny side, my lap top's been confiscated and the wife has gone off to her mum's.

    It's a pain!

    Another downside of Win8.

From what I understand, you can't change it in Win8, as it reads the tag from the original image file, which determines the aspect.

You need to load the images into image software, manipulate it to how you want it, then save.

    There's a lot of image/photo software available.

One is Photo Gallery, which is part of Windows Essentials.

    Photoshop, etc.
