Recovery partition is usually hidden on your Windows 8 PC. That is OK, until you want to access and manipulate data on that partition, for example to update contents of Windows 8 Recovery Partition (volume) to Windows 8.1: The Windows 8.1 upgrade does NOT update contents of Windows 8 Recovery Partition (volume).
